...but there is SOME good news - it means we're going back to Disneyland California!
DW and I had been booked on a 4 day Disney cruise for October 2007 ever since the dates were released at the start of this year, though in truth we'd had it planned in our heads a good nine months before even that date. We'd also booked to stay at AKL for a few days beforehand and at the Boardwalk for a week afterwards (what would have been our first ever on-site stays).
However two weeks ago, I got an e-mail from Dreams Unlimited saying that Disney had chartered out the ship for that week (we believe for a DVC members cruise) and we'd been bumped from the cruise and needed to re-book a different date.
I was absolutely furious. After all, we'd not only paid the deposit for all three parts of the holiday, but we'd paid off a large chunk of the final balance too. If DCL knew they were going to use this cruise for something else (they do run one DVC trip every year), why did they let us book on it and not say a word?
They offered us a two category upgrade for a re-booking, but we were unable to take it as DW couldn't move her holiday dates at work. Other colleagues had booked up every other week in October and she couldn't move it into November, because she works in a place where no-one is allowed leave over their busy Christmas period (understandable really).
So I've had to cancel the whole lot. I wasn't prepared to do the WDW stay without the cruise - I'd knew I'd just be thinking things like "we were meant to be going to Port Canaveral this morning" or "we should have been on Castaway Key today" and making myself all frustrated.
A much better idea was to instead go to California and split our stay between San Diego and Anaheim, where we would be going back to the Candy Cane Inn (less than one block from Disneyland) where we spent our honeymoon! Plus it's going to cost us a lot less...
