Force use of pulled points from next year

I recently changed a reservation from Riviera to Boardwalk, and the points requirement went down for the booking. I had used 10 points from next use year to book riviera originally from my BLT contract. Now I have 10 points sitting in BTL from my 2023 use year that I can't bank. I tried to rebook the room to see if it would give me a way to use the pulled points first so I could just bank the rest, no such luck. Can member services do this for me?

It is not technically allowed; but I have called before and they have done it for me. It’s worth a shot!

Yes, when you "Borrow" points from your next UY, it is supposed to be a "Final" transaction........ but if you call MS and ask for forgiveness they will sometimes let you "Un-Borrow" points. They usually make a note of it, and it is usually your one get-out-of-jail cards that you get, and they won't do it again.

Just for clarity sake, I'm not asking to unborrow points, I'm asking for my 35 point reservation to use the 10 points I borrowed from next use year first...and then use my current use year points. That would leave me with 10 points left from this years use year, which I could then bank.

As long as you are more than 30 days from your trip that should work and it should have worked when you "rebooked" as the system is supposed to pull borrowed / banked points first. However, if you are 30 days or less from check in then holding goes into affect.

Interesting, I wonder if I need to cancel and rebook instead of "modifying" the existing reservation for that to work. Always a risk that someone else will grab it if I try that though.

DO NOT CANCEL. You could very easily lose the room. Call Member Services and see if they can help you....or explain why it isn't working as you would like.

Mystery solved, and I feel stupid I didn't pull 10 points from next use year, I pulled 45. So it *IS* using my pulled points first, its just all the points I have left. Ah well, 10 points will go up to the Disney DVC gods as sacrifice.

Have you used a transfer yet?

If they are not in holding, could you sell those 10 points on the Rent/Transfer board? Might be worth a shot.

We're not allowed to transfer borrowed points. OP said the remaining 10 points were also borrowed. He borrowed 45 to make the BWV reservation he wanted and the one he wanted to use the borrowed points for only required 35.

There's a chance you could rent out a one night stay in one of the cheaper resorts. Or if you're really going to just let them go, post them up as free on the rent/trade boards. Better someone else than Disney!

You can’t transfer between contracts. Transfers are moving points from one membership to a different membership.

You must call and both owners of the membership must be in the call.

Could you book a studio at one of the less expensive resorts and try to rent it? Or if you know someonr going to WDW see if they can use it. I traded a week at OKW for some dental work years ago.
