Force Awakens overlay on Rock 'n' Rollercoaster

Saw a YouTube video with John Williams music being played for the ride. Had Movie Posters in the queue and some of the "rock" elements in the ride were blacked out. I imagine this would be the "refurb" with the quickest turnaround when Aerosmith's contract runs out... all they'd have to do is change the Hollywood signs and landscape stuff into Tai Fighters, planets, etc...

This was for the special premier event on opening night of The Force Awakens. It ran that night only. I just posted a new RnRc rumor in the Marvel rumor thread.

Changing the RnR to Guardians or Star Wars or any other thing like that is such a stupid idea, that I have to believe that it is total poppycock. Disney has done some questionable things over the years, but I honestly believe that they're not that dumb.

So I saw the ToT rumor as stupid, but what's stupid about the RnR change? The theming on that ride isn't nearly as tightly woven around the attraction and it would be comparatively easy to re-theme.

I understand that thing's are changing but can we please just leave part of the old park around and leave Hollywood Boulevard, RnR and ToT alone please? I'm guessing that is wishful thinking.

I LOVED the Halloween Overlays (space mountain and haunted mansion) at Disneyland in 2013. I think it would be great to try some at WDW!

Right.
It's a roller coaster, for crying out loud. Themes are interchangeable. However, the stretch limos as the ride vehicle could be a problem. That wouldn't be a quick change.

They could just change the body right? The limo is just a type of plastic I believe.

This. On the ride itself, only the stretch limo element is intrinsically linked to Aerosmith; change the queue and the music and this could be almost as awesome as Hyperspace Mountain (which had three hour-plus waits when we went shortly after it opened).

Do you know that, of all the world's Parks, only Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland have the "Nightmare Before Christmas" overlay? We never miss Halloween Time at DLR. As for Hyperspace Mountain, it is one of the most joyful experiences I've ever had at Disney. So glad they're extending the run.

Star Wars was definitely only for the special event. As this is not proximate to any potential Star Wars Land space, there definitely will not be a permanent Star Wars overlay. GOTG seems likely at this point... but still a ***RUMOR***.
