For Your Enjoyment...

This is a bit of a vent.

So we rented points to stay in a Studio Savannah View at the end of January. I found it to be very entertaining that Disney would send a letter in the mail and title the letter "For Your Enjoyment" regarding the pool refurbishment that is currently taking place. We are still trying to figure out which part is for our enjoyment: the fact the pool is closed or that we get to take a bus to the other pool.

We recently adopted two children and get to fulfill our dream of taking them to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have ALWAYS wanted to stay there and finding out the pool will be shut down was a big let down, mostly because there was no availabilty for us to switch to Kidani.

I know I am just being a Debby Downer and it is really not that big of a deal. I just want everything to be perfect for our first trip as a family.

"For Your Enjoyment" is called the Disney spin. No different than "New policy enhances reservation bookings and waitlist procedure" and "Consistent Transaction Fee for Member Getaways Exchanges".

Yes, the "marketing" terms used to inform people about these things can be very irritating.

When you go to check in you could inquire if there was a room at Kidani to switch to. Maybe something will have opened up last minute.

Do you know that you are booked at Jambo? Maybe you'll get lucky and be on the end of the building closest to Kidani! Then the walk will be a quick one. FYI, the Kidani pool is much more kid friendly anyway. LOTS of fun there.

I got the same letter but it was from the BW saying our pool would be closed during our stay and I was VERY HAPPY as we get to use SAB!!!!!

I love the BW but always wanted to try SAB-- Now I just have to hope we get good weather!!!

I hope you enjoy the Kidani pool (which looks really fun!) and have a great trip!!!

Can you waitlist for a room at Kidani? Perhaps you will get lucky!

My friend just got a letter she is staying at CS and their main pool will be closed but they are going to let her use CBR main pool instead. She started laughing and said Yeah, like I am going to us another resorts pool and then have to ride a bus wet back to my hotel. Now that I think of it, you can't use resort to resort bus transportation anyways. What a hassel!!!

I'll be staying at BWV this month and I got a letter a few months ago letting me know the pool would be closed, but I could use SAB instead.

However, since it's freezing at WDW now I doubt that I'm going anywhere near a pool during my stay.

Ya the reservation says Jambo and when the person we rented with a few weeks ago called Disney they said they were all full in Kidani and could not switch us. But I will ask the person we rented with to see if there is a waitlist and put us on! I am hoping the weather warms up so we can use the pool.

Congrats on the adoption...having 2 of our own, I know how exciting that first trip can be for them and you. Sorry about the pool thing, but just know that kids don't really care what pool you go to and how many buses you need to take to get there. Our 2 are from an orphanage and that 1st car ride was an adventure unto itself. At least you will have a beautiful view of the animals.

And remember that perfect is what you make of it.

We have been at WDW at the end of January a couple of times and usually find that it is warm enough to swim only 2 or 3 days out of the week. In other words, you may find that you won't have that much pool time anyway.

On the other hand, most of the restaurants including the only places that serve breakfast (Boma and The Mara) are in Jambo House. If you plan to eat breakfast at AKV a few days you might find it more convenient to be in Jambo House. Also, Kidani does not have a counter service restaurant so again, if you plan to eat at the counter service restaurant (The Mara) you might find Jambo House more convenient.

If you were going in the warmer months with the same circumstances (pool closure) I would say you should try to switch to Kidani but for an end of January trip, I wouldn't be that concerned because I don't think you will be using the pool all that much anyway. And if you do get a couple of warm days, it's not that far to head over to Kidani Village to use the pool.

By all means go on the waiting list if you like but I wanted to be sure you knew what you would be giving up (easy access to restaurants) if you move to Kidani Village.

With a 2 and 4 year old, you will prefer the Kidani pool. It is wonderful for those ages! Have fun!

While staying there you get the pleasure of seeing the signs... "This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment"!
