I'm obsessing over our next trip and wondering about HH as a pit-stop on our way to BWV. I'm not big on split-trips, but I was thinking that a stop at HH might just be the perfect break on our drive down. Ordinarily, we stop at my mom's house, but she's moving from St. AUgustine very soon :( , so we'll either have to tough it out for 8 hrs with 3 kids in tow OR.... maybe a HH pitstop?

WOuld a 2-night stay be enough time to get a small taste of the place? (I've been itching to go there anyway, but DH is weenie and never wanted to stop halfway -- it's WDW or bust for him!)
And how far is it from HH to WDW, anyway? (I know, I'm lazy, I could look this up, but if ya already know, pls share!)

We drive from WV to upper SC (8hr drive), then usually hoof it to St Aug, spend a night, then down to WDW. I'm thinking down to SC, then down the 4 hr drive to HH, then stay 2 nights, then down to WDW.

Is there a particular day that the fish-shirt-painting is done (or some other equally beachy fun activity that 3 kids aged 4-9 would enjoy)? We could try to plan around that timing. We are looking at mid-August of next year (prime time for HH, I know, but I *think* it will be late enough that most of the SC/GA schools will be back in session already, unlike us WV folks.) I understand that during the prime time, HH is hard to get at the 7 mos window, but perhaps it's worth the try?

Any help appreciated!

The HH resort is about 5 hours from WDW, so it does make for an easy trip.

2 days would give you a nice feel for the resort, but I wouldn't suggest trying to plan your arrival based on activities- as those are subject to change. The schedule is usually made up about a week in advance and does have some variation. There are nice options- for all ages- most every day.

The 7 month window does work and late August isn't too bad a time to try to get in a couple of days. Even if it's not available at first call, the waitlist is a viable service.

Enjoy!

I think it would be well worth the stop! We love HH! First off, WDW is about 5 hours from HH: it's a little off the beaten path as far as I-95. You have to travel inland about 30 miles.

We normally stay only 2 nights when we go and it seems to be enough time. I really don't think 1 night would be enough. It depends on if you're really into shopping and golfing. We spend a day at the pool and a day at the beach. My DD loved the fish painting! I'm not sure if they do it on certain days, but when we went she made her shirt on a Sunday.

It will certainly get you excited for the remainder of your trip at WDW! When we need a Disney fix and we can't find the time to get to Orlando, we go for a weekend at HH and we feel the magic!

A two day "layover" at HHI would be a great mini-vacation!

Two days is just enough time to participate in one or two activities as well as having enough time to really enjoy the pool.

A few days prior to arrival, call the resort directly and ask for a copy of the activity list. They'll gladly fax you a copy. Then, you'll be able to get a feel for what's going on & make your plans. IN some cases, you may be able to make reservations in advance.

Have FUN!! This is a beautiful, relaxing place to be :D
