DH and I may take a quick trip down to Seabrook for one night.

I have ressies at Best Western Seabrook.

Is that a good place to stay or should we stay in Galveston?

We would like to check out Kemah Boardwalk.

Where should we eAT?

any other suggestions!!

TIA

Michele

Im not familiar with that Best Western so I cant give you any advise on it. Here is a link to the Kemah Boardwalk--they have tons of great restaurants there and a hotel. Galveston will be a better choice if your hoping to get a room with a view of the water.

The Rainforest Cafe in Galveston is very cool. They have an indoor raft ride.

We really like The Aquarium on the boardwalk. But, all the places are good, you really can't go wrong. (The Cadillac Bar does get a bit racy though!) The whole boardwalk has a nice atmosphere! As for Galveston, Guido's is the most historical "Old Galveston" restaurant, IMHO.

Have fun!!

This isn't really a place to eat....well, maybe it is....but we like to go to the candy shop on the Strand (can't remember the name) and get a double chocolate shake. YUM!! It is an old-looking candy and ice cream shop where they also make taffy, if I remember correctly.

Have fun!

The Best Western in Seabrook is about 5 mins. away from the Kemah Boardwalk. It's also a new hotel, looks pretty nice. We love eating at the Boardwalk. Even if you don't eat at the Aquarium, they'll let you walk around. (The Aquarium tends to have a long wait, so get there early! They don't take reservations) It's a nice atmosphere all around there. There's a new Babin's restaurant there that's supposed to be good. We're about 30 mins to Galveston and I agree that The Strand area is fun. The Topwater Grille is supposed to be great. My DH is in the food business and his territory includes Galveston. FYI The Strand area is not on the beach, but lots of great shops and charm.

Let me know if you need any more info!

:D

You might want to see Moody Gardens if you go down to Galveston. We enjoy the various activities there.

While you're on the Strand, you might want to walk over to the Elissa if you think you might enjoy seeing her. There's a visitor center on the Strand that might be helpful.

Have fun whatever you decide!

Thanks for the responses!!!

We will be making a very quick trip!!

We plan to arrive around 2pm on a Sat and leave around 11 am Sunday!!

Mostly just to get away while the kids are off with grandparents.

We will probably just do a little shopping, have dinner, do the free breakfast at the hotel (they are supposed to have made to order belgium waffles) a little more sightseeing and then head home.

Anyway we were going to go east to the coast but Ivan left that area in bad shape.:(

So, we thought we'd give the Galveston area a try.

Thanks

Michele
