For those with toddlers or younger, which resort?

Every once in awhile I see someone ask advice for a resort with very young children. Now please understand this is not a slam against you! I love the fact that you are such a great parent that you're not only taking your child or children to WDW but that you're very concerned about the perfect resort for them...I commend you!

I was thinking about the question and I remembered my son's first Christmas. It HAD to be perfect! We had to get the perfect gifts, the ones that teach and are safe and are fun and the right color and the right size. We kept within our budget (roughly the same sum as the national debt). There were boxes and boxes of every color and shape. It must have taken us 3 months to wrap it all. Took almost that long for our 9 month old to unwrap it all. After the carnage we found that his favorite toy was the blue plastic spoon he got in some sort of fisher price toy.

...a 3 cent plastic spoon

When he was 1 and 2 he loved the boxes things came in.

Seems no matter what plans you make the kids are going enjoy themselves.

I have a two year old and a four year old and we've been to WDW many times over the last few years. I think my favorite resort with little ones is probably the Polynesian.... just because we spend so much time at MK and the monorail and boat are fantastic! :earsgirl:

The YC/BC are really great too. But it's sort of a pain getting to MK from there.

No matter where you stay you'll have a great time. :)

I guess that was my point Erika...maybe someday I'll learn to speak a little more succinctly.:teeth:

I think you both made your point and at the same time explained your tag.:teeth:

I have been to WDW with toddlers. I think what you need to do is decide which park you will be using the most and then pick the closest resort to that park (particularly if your little ones need a nap). When you have little ones who need a nap or more frequent breaks the "we only sleep in our room" philosophy goes right out the window.

We stayed at both Contemporary and Poly when our kids were younger because we had to go back and forth a lot for naps etc. These resorts offered the quickest access to the MK, which is probably where most people with really little ones go. However, if you think you might be spending lots of time at MGM or Epcot, then I suggest one of the 5 resorts there.

Most kids will have a great time no matter where you stay!! Just pace yourself so they don't get too cranky. My kids always love riding in the monorail or the bus the best!

seastar, That is the #1 thing I tell folks when they ask me my opinions or ask for my help when they want to go to WDW...TAKE YOUR TIME and relax!
