We do not have a TV in the car, nor do we plan on getting one. I just think that kids need to use their imagination and having to sit in the car with nothing to do will force them to use their imagination. Kids today are constantly stimulated with electronic devices and they never use their minds. I just don't see any reason to have a TV in the car, no matter how long a drive it is. With the way the world is today with both parents working, driving in the car and being able to talk to one another is a great thing. You stick that TV in the car and nobody is talking to anybody. JMHO:D

We used it on our trip to Florida...it worked out great. Luckily my girls and I have plenty of free time to talk at home and didn't need to be talking on the trip to Florida. I wish I could have watched it...but I was too busy driving!

We have one of those VCR in a bag things -- we've used it maybe three or four times, for longer car trips. It's kind of a pain to set up, so we often just don't bother with it.

We resisted getting one for the longest time. Our oldest DD is a huge chatterbox and doesn't stop talking during car rides, no matter how long they are. The youngest tries to sleep but usually can't due to her sister's non-stop chatter.

Our new van came equipped with a DVD player and wow! I haven't been able to chat with DH or listen to my own music in the car for years. It's lovely. Don't worry, we still get plenty of conversations in, but silence is golden sometimes, too.

We have one and we use it all the time. My kids always feel asleep in the car, and I always found myself tied to their schedule. I had to leave by a certain time, so that they wouldnt fall asleep and mess up bedtime. I am very happy with the tv

We have the DVD player with monitors that go on the headrests.
I would have payed much much more money than I did. THey are great. No "Are we there yet" , "I'm bored", "He's touching me" etc......

No TV, but my daughter does bring her Leapster to play with.

We do not have one now, but want to get one. We so often take long trips to my in-laws that it would be a nice break from GBA, reading and trying to come up with more ways to entertain the 2 yr old!

We lost our minivan in an accident. I was afraid to drive after that but we needed another family vehicle. We found a used Suburban at a local dealership that my husband liked. It had a TV and VCR in it, but it was the cheapest Suburban in the lot. We got it and I love the TV. I spend so much of my day driving around town running errands for everybody or taking the kids here and there......we thought we would be using the TV for travel but I listen to talk shows and the news while I am driving around. I use it more than anyone. We found that the antenna is pretty limited around here (just like at home ~ we use rabbit ears at home) but, with the VCR, we can record PBS programming or other shows we enjoy and then play them while we travel. It is great. I don't know what we are going to do when we have to get a newer vehicle! I know we would not like paying for a new TV PLUS the cost of a new 4-wheel drive!!

We have one and it is worth its wait in gold! We take 4 hour (each way) trips to the grandparents at least once a month and the tv has really made the trip a lot easier. And as Kasar said, I can actually talk with my dh now!

"He's touching me" is my favorite. Have you seen the commercial: "I'm......not......touching.....you.....I'm not touching you, I'm not touching you...." How do children survive childhood, anyway???

We have a portable DVD player, but rarely use it in the car, since we rarely take long trips.

Love it! Travel has never been so easy. I would not have one that wasn't built in due to safty concerns. Ours flips from the ceiling.

We only use it on long trips (meaning at least three hours, but not even sometimes for the three-hour trip to my brother's).

I was against it for so long, and we travelled without one on trips to Virginia, Florida and New York.

But now we love it. They still play car games, color, bring GameBoy & Leapster, sing songs, etc. But we work in a movie here and there and it gives us some quiet time.
