I just stole this off another board, it was on a post about saying AP rates were extended from February 15th - March 15th. Hope someone can benefit! Here is the deal that they posted:

Update on AP Rates in March

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since I was the one who had posted that they had extended the rates I was interested to see why the Reservation line is not able to pull up the rates for March. I just spoke with Devin at the Reservation Line and he also indicated that the rates had not been extended from February 15 to March 15. They have a list on their search screen which is in effect a quick reference. He then went and checked and was told the same thing again. However, when he input the AP code into his computer for March it did come up with availability at the special AP rate which surprised him since they had not emailed the cast members about the extension. He is going to ask the supervisor to send out an email letting the reservation cast members know that it has been extended. However, it is apparently sold out on certain dates at that rate so it will be hit and miss depending on when you are going. If they say it is not available ask them to input the code and check your dates and not just to rely on what they have been told.

oooohhhhh - definitely talking to DH tonight!!!

Holy buckets! :cool1:

I'd better call to check on our weekend. Thanks for posting, Andrea.

To those with AP's

Do not take offence to this. I am just curious about something.

I live 1000's of miles away from DL and can only come during a school vacation. As we all know, Spring Break is during March and April. This is a very busy time in DL. I do not have a lot of alternate times of the year when I could go to DL. My choice is to come during SPring Break, or not at all. So...why would anyone with an AP come into the park during a BUSY Spring Break time? Aren't there plently of weeks outside of Spring Break when the park is less croweded? I have yet to meet anyone who prefers DL to be crowded. If I lived locally and had an AP, I doubt I'd go into DL when it was packed like Spring Break. Maybe it is because people are addicted and just can't stay away. But c'mon... how much fun is it when the park is packed?

Many who are AP holders are under similar constraints as you. Some APers aren't all that local (we're in AZ, which allows us to go a few times a year, but it's still a one day drive there and another day's drive back). Many APers have to work for a living and can't take vacation any old time. Many APers have kids who they can't easily pull out of the classroom at any old time, so they wait for their kids' break.

I am referring to local AP people. Local, as in living within a few hours driving distance of DL. You must have misunderstood. I am interested in the 'pull' for a local AP person, going to DL, knowing it will be jam packed at Spring Break, when there are so many less busy times of the year to visit.

I guess I would be one of those...I live 5 hrs away and personally I dont like going at spring break time at all but I do know people who live near me that do go at times like that and the reasoning is...Its getting harder and harder for kids here to be able to get out of school while its in session...even though I dont live as far as alot of people, its not an easy feat for me to drive that far and drive back all in the same day and alot of us have blackout days on saturdays so it makes it impossible to do a weekend trip..sometimes you have to go when you can:confused3

Local to me is not living "within a few hours driving distance". Local to me is the same distance I would drive for a one-day sale! :thumbsup2

Speaking as a Vegas local, I am just short of 45 minutes to the Strip, and the only time I go there is when we have visitors. Most visitors come here on---you guessed it---summers, holidays and weekends. Apply the same theory to DL, and that is probably one of the big reasons a DL AP person would go on holidays.

The other reason we don't mind going when it's crowded is the AP gives us the mental and realistic knowledge that we will be back! Long lines don't bother us---we don't wait in them! A crowded day at the park with minimal rides completed is still better than not being there. YMMV...

Yes I also live in Vegas, so while I wouldn't call it local (different state even!) We have AP's just because we like to go a few times a year.

Now the main point of my post was for those even far away like you that are going in March, you could possibly save a HUGE chunk of change by getting yourself an AP and booking those rates. That's why I posted. Most locals would not be staying the night anyways, so it's not really for them.

It's for those that might spend $159 on a 4 day ticket for their break (like you) and for $80 more, they could possibly save hundreds on the hotel! In some cases it makes sense to get an AP even if you won't be back, this is one of those times!

Hope that makes sense.

I'm a local... 15 mins from Sleeping Beauty Castle and I will tell you I frequent the park as often as once a week. BUT when a holiday rolls around, I am nowhere near DL. I don't go at all from late June to late August, with the exception of Aug. 1st, DS's bday. Other than that, I agree with you. I don't want to be there with the crowds, and I don't have to.
And you're right... a packed park is NOT fun. :sad2:

I go to DL with my family when I can, not when I have visitors. Still haven't heard anything yet that explains the 'pull' for a local AP person to visit DL during busy holidays when so many other weeks in the year offer smaller crowds for a local AP to visit.

Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just trying to understand what makes some people tick.

Now THIS makes sense. I'd do the same as you if I lived so close.

I live a good 6 - 7 hours away, depending on who's driving. (haha) But we do have AP's and we go about 2 - 3 times a year. We always fly though about 1 hour 15 minutes. I try to avoid when it's busy, but since we have a DS almost 8 it's so hard. We would rather pull him out of school, but his school cracked down this year making vacations unexcused abseces. So this causes us to to be there sometimes when it's busy. And believe me I agree with the post above, a packed park is not fun.

:lmao: Us too, depends who is driving! :lmao:

We are thinking about getting AP's this year and making at least a 2nd annual trip, if not more. We always go during the kids breaks - be it Fall Break or Spring Break. In looking at ticket prices I realized that two trips would justify purchasing AP's as the rates would be cheaper. We always stay about four nights - and it does take us about 6 hours to drive.

Oh and I am the original poster and have AP's. I posted this for those that go during that time and most have no other choice due to schedules, but I myself would not go during breaks either. We even make one quick summer trip in early June and then I don't return till September. So I do understand, but some people like you who come from far away only 1 or 2 times a year still have AP's!!

Andrea

I guess I'm the minority, then.

While I wouldn't CHOOSE it, I'll go any day of any week of any month of any year. Just being there improves my mental condition.

Hey now!!! No comments about my mental condition, people!

We live 1/2 hour away. Our AP is the southern california and has blockout dates for the busiest times of the year - much of summer, spring break, end of December... that's fine with us. Since we are close, we'll go for 3-4 hours MANY times a year. I took DS last Friday as a reward for a great test grade in school. If the kids have a day off school and it's not a blockout day, we'll go anyway. Those are the days that we'll avoid certain rides and go for things like fastpass anything, Tiki room, RR, Innoventions, performances/shows, or just watching people while eating an ice cream bar.:goofy:
