My DH decided that we should get AP's for our May 2005 trip because we will probably go again in December. :earsboy:
Well now it's snowballing--- we went in May and planned the Dec., then a cruise in Feb-- with a week at parks so we could use our tickets of course, now with the free dining we had to look into that but the AP rate was better for us so we just planned a quick Labor Day weekend trip---mind you, just so we could get our moneys worth from the AP's. :goodvibes

Have we gone ::MickeyMo crazy????
Is anyone else doing this or have we alone become obessed with mouse?

"Hi, my name is spoonfulofsugar and I am a mouseaholic"

We're right there with you, SpoonfulofSugar. We bought our first AP's in August 2003 because we were going for 11 days and at the time it was less than the Ultimate Park Hopper ticket. Well, it saved us money until I decided we should go for DH's birthday in February. While there in February, they were promoting the Come Back offer. We booked another trip for May at 40% off rack rates. We already had the tickets - how could we not go?!? So, what started as saving $50-$100 on passes turned into 27 days in WDW within 10 months.

Same logic applied in February 2004: 10 day trip, AP's are less than UPH, discounts on room rates are so good, etc, etc. How could we not? By the time we got home from that trip, we had another unplanned vacation booked for October.

Well, now we clearly know what we're getting ourselves into and give into it gladly. Our AP's for August will certainly be used again in February (and probably May) 2006. We don't even try to kid ourselves - we know the new MYW tickets are about half the price of a PAP.

Trust me, I'm not complaining one bit. I love that we can go as often as we do. I am so far beyond obsessed that I don't even delude myself into thinking this is a money saving plan. :teacher:

Besides, now that I'm a Disney stockholder, I've got another instant excuse. "Honey, it's good for the company. We really should go." :earboy2:

An AP makes you want to get as many trips out of it that you possibly can.

Mine was to expire in April so I told DH we had to go back for march break. He said " so let me get this straight- you want to spend another $2000 to get all your moneys worth out of that AP"

I knew he would understand ;)

Add me to the list of ::MickeyMo crazy then! :teeth:
We originally bought our AP's for our December trip b/c we would be in the parks for at least 8 days and it was economically better for us. Well, it snowballed as well. We decided to add a trip in the summer of this year since we had the AP's. From there we decided to celebrate our families birthdays at the world, so we added a trip in January, April and September. Of course, we had such a magical time last December that we added a quick trip this December before the AP's run out.

So....one trip ended up to be SIX trips in a year! :rotfl: :rotfl: How I talked my DH into that I will never know....... :earboy2:

AP's would be even more dangerous for us if we lived closer. The 700 plus mile drive keeps our trips down to no more than 3 or 4 times a year.

Count us in...DH & I! Bought AP's for the discount on 3 rooms for our Sept trip, 7 days, plus going in December for 9 days...then August 2006 for 13 days!!! But we don't know if we can wait 8 months between trips, we'll see.

Been crazy since August 2004. We have always gone to WDW at least once/yr, sometimes twice, but since buying those APs last August we have been to WDW 4 times and we are planning yet another trip for right before the AP expires this August.

Call me crazy, but I love my AP!!

i am the same way, bought at AP since i was going to WDW for 7 days, now I went again last week, am going back in Oct, and the AP convinced me to buy into DVC!

We are AP holders and we always get 2 or 3 trips out of them every year. We got our current AP's last December and are going back this Sept./Oct. and again in December before they expire.

Still Mouse crazy got to go twice year for Disney fix. :goodvibes  :Pinkbounc :wizard:

You bet! We bought our first AP's last Dec. (right before the DVC discount kicked in) and went back for a long weekend in Jan. DH and I will be there in October for F&WF and then we'll all be there again for Christmas.
We bought DVC before our AP's, but no matter.
The combination of DVC points and AP's is a very dangerous one indeed :teeth:

AP's should come with some kind of warning label "Could easily become addictive" !!From April 2004 to April 2005 I spent 52 days at WDW, that shocks me just to type it!!! And I live in Massachusetts!! ::MinnieMo

Guilty here too. We bought our APs for our Dec 04 trip planning to do the cruise in Sept 05. Then since the tix were already covered decided to suprise DD with a father/daughter weekend for her birthday in Feb. DH and I then went for a long weekend for our 10th Anniv in May. Now we've decided we can do 10 days in Aug for less than the cruise so cxld the cruise and booked 10 days at POR.

Wonder if I'll be able to convince DH to renew the APs for next year, he might have me committed.

We're the people who need to be able to post more than two countdown clocks. I appreciate this thread, it makes me feel a little better about what I did last Monday. Got home from the World at about 0100 in the morning due to flight delays and by 1430 had called CRO to check availability of AP rate rooms for July 25-29 at a moderate or certain deluxe class rooms. Got the $99 rate for POR so I booked it for my sister and I. Started checking flights and discovered that it was much cheaper to travel the 26-30, called CRO back and changed the ressie. Called Dining on Tues and booked Ohanas for sis B-day meal, CRT lunch, and Sci Fi Dine In, bought airline tickets, and called CRO back to set up the ME stuff. Why is this so bad? This was the plan for the year anyway:
May 29-June 5 OKW been there, did that, great time (8 days)
Oct 7-9 OKW MNSSHP and F&W (4 days)
Dec 17-24 OKW X-mas (8 days)
Jan 5-9 SSR marathon (5 days)
Mar 18-26 OKW+ASMo or AP rate room Spring Break (9 days)
May 18-25 FL half IM and just because (8 days)
So 42 days use plus the 5 day July trip for my sister and I. Even my 70+ Grandma will be getting 24 days out of hers. Do we live close to the World? No, my home of record is Upstate NY but I actually live in ME most of the year. Trips require airline tickets but I can't think of where I rather be when I have a break. We may have a Mouse(Stitch) addiction but I can think of worse things.

Most definately. We're headed down in July, again for Christmas, and I'm trying to figure out how I can talk dh into another trip or two before the AP's expire. Any ideas?

We're there too. Bought AP's in November for our big family trip for me and dh because we knew we were going back this year for our 5th anniversary/honeymoon we never had. Then it mutated. One day there was $39 airfare so dd and I snuck off on a long weekend for her birthday. Now I'm going with a friend in september who has never been and then of course, dh and I are going for 9 days in October/November right before the ap's expire. We've lucked out on some incredible deals this year and we feel so fortunate to be having such a great disney year!
