??? for those who've used Disney Visa rewards

I just ordered my reward card with the points on it to use on our trips to WDW in February and April (yeah, I know I'm spoiled!). Anyways, the information about where you can redeem the rewards is a little vague for me on their web site. It says they're redeemable "almost everywhere", but of course doesn't define what that is. For those of you who have redeemed these in the past, can they really be used just about everywhere? For example, we always eat at Biergarten (sp??) when we go. Will we be able to use it there? What about the counter service restaurants? I assume in any of the stores at DTD? What about the restaurants at DTD and the Boardwalk? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!

"Almost anywhere" is basically all WDW locations where credit cards can be used. The card is essentially a credit card and is used as such. I would guess the only places it is not usable would be smaller food stands in the park.

I found the most convenient way to get the rewards card is simply to go to the special booth at Downtown Disney (but only if you plan to hit DTD early in your visit). We had one for $80 since we had used it for our DVC downpayment and a few other large ticket items.

Can you use them at non-Disney owned restaurants like Rainforest or Wolfgang Pucks? I've heard you can have them applied to your room charge bill, so charging to your room and then redeeming at the front desk may be a way around that.

we sort of got a hassle from a waiter at a restaurant in the Swan for trying to use them. he said he wasn't sure if they could be accepted at the Swan or not. rather than waiting for him to investigate, i ended up just paying cash and using the reward points at a gift shop at BC.

Does anyone know if the rewards card can be used at the Disney Store or at WDW to purchase Disney Dollars which I would then give to the kids for their spending $$$...

The reason you had trouble at the Swan is because Disney doesn't own the Swan (it's a Starwood Hotel).

I don't know if you can do this, but I'm going next week and I'll try it and report back. If allowed then this would be a way to cash out the rewards.

I used mine at WDW at the following restaurants:

Trail's End at Fort Wilderness
Sci-Fi at MGM
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge
Olivia's at Old Key West

Then I used the balance after I got home to place an order at the Disney Store online. (Had the remaining balance of the order applied to my Disney Visa card.)

I found info on the web site that says we can't buy Reward Dollars with Disney dollars, but nothing about the other way around! I'd be interested to know if this is OK!

Planet Hollywood is not owned by Disney (neither is Rainforest Cafe). They can only be used at Disney owned facilities.
