For those who've used a CARES system on the airplane

I'm not positive this should be on the transporation board but really couldn't figure out where else.

Did you buy your CARES system or rent one? We do not fly that often, in fact, this trip in December will be the 1st time flying for all of my boys.

If you rented, wh/where did you find the rental? I found one on ebay, $13.99, $6 shipping, that has a top rated seller status & lots of positive feedback.

How hard are they to install on the airplane's seats? & how hard are they to adjust to your child's size?

I'm really leaning to not renting a minivan & just using Disney transpotation for our trip. If we don't, I won't need the carseat. But, Landon is on the petite side, he's 27lbs right now with less than 3 months until we go. So, I want something to make him safer in the airplane seat.

I have not used one. Had a friend who borrowed one and I was explaining to her how to use it. For me the logistics of installing them seem like a hassle. You have to lower the tray of the seat behind where the child is sitting to install, so you need to be on the plane before others. and to uninstall I wouldn't feel comfortable taking it off when others are in the seats behind me. We also ended up with a few tight connections when flying with our daughter and the extra time (due to delays) may have made the difference in us making our plane.

I thought about buying one, but after discussing it with my husband we decided against it.

Hijack - my little man is Landon too and we're having these same discussions for our upcoming trip. I decided this trip we're going to take his carseat in hopes he will sleep through the flight but part of me is like hmmmm should we bite the bullet and buy this now??

I have a friend who just used hers and had no complaints like the PP mentioned. I'll ask.

I was behind someone installing one once. The mom just asked if I could lower my tray while she put it on. No big deal.

I used one last year and I am using it again tomorrow. I bought mine on craigslist and when she outgrows it I will put it back on to sell.
It is very easy to use. People were so nice behind us on both legs of the trip and helping me put it around the seat. It was so nice just having a small drawstring bag instead of a big carseat.
