Currently we have ressies at Pop Century Dec 17-24, but with all of this scuttlebutt of some sort of a discount coming available, I am considering upgrading to POFQ. My questions are, will it be worth it? Is it that much nicer than the values? How is the bus transpo? Which buildings are the best to stay in? TIA for any info.

I've stayed at the POFQ several times. It is my favorite resort! I definitely thing that the moderates are a nice step up from the Values. The rooms are a bit bigger, the grounds are beautiful, you'll have a fridge in the room, and if your little ones like pool slides, they'll love the one at the POFQ (there is not a slide at Pop).

I find the transportation to be fine at the POFQ. It makes stops at the POR as well, and some folks complain about that, but it only adds a few minutes to the trip. The POFQ is usually the first stop in the morning, so you should be able to get a seat on the bus.

The POFQ also offers boat service to Downtown Disney, which is a nice break from the buses.

POFQ is our favorite moderate. Beautiful grounds and atmosphere.

*Fantasia* here on the DIS BOARDS has some great recent photos. You can do a search for her and find the thread.

Also, we've found the transportation to be excellent.

I love POFQ! I personally think it is worth it to upgrade to a moderate for a longer stay. I also like POP, but I wouldn't stay there for more than a couple of days. I like the smallness of the resort and the pool for my slide-loving water bug. And yes, your kids will want to swim in late December! The food court is smaller and less crowded than Pop's and the hotel rooms are bigger and you get a free refrierator.

Here is a list of advantages/disadvantages that I came up with for each level:
Advantage of Value over Moderates and Deluxes
* Price.
* Food Courts for quick meals.
* Pop Century has its own bus.
* All Stars resorts share busses, but there is usually very little wait on either end.

Disadvantage of Values
* Small rooms.

* Double or King sized beds only.
* Large groups can sometimes be rowdy.
* No pool slide or hot tub.
* external corridors.
* Pizza delivery only.

Advantage of Moderate over Values
* Nicer feature pools with slides and hot tubs.
* Bigger rooms.
* Free refrigerators.
* Sit-down restaurants (all but POFQ).
* Real bars in main area plus pool bar, not just pool bar (except POP).
* Nicer food court, it's not just one big room.
* No giant icons.

Disadvantages of Moderates
* Double or King sized beds only.

* Can be spread out and most need an internal bus system.
* External corridors.
* Pizza delivery only.

Advantage of Deluxe over Moderates and Values
* Bigger rooms yet. Many can sleep 5 people.

* Queen or King sized beds.
* Large variety of sit-down restaurants.
* Nicer feature pools, many with zero entry.
* Internal corridors.
* All have sliding glass doors and most have balconies or patios.
* Most have special proximity to parks: monorail/boat to MK, walk/boat to
Epcot/MGM.
* Room service.
* Valet parking.

Disadvantage of Deluxes
* Epcot deluxes do not have snack shops for a quick meal, except the Beach Club Marketplace.
* Price.
* Busses are often shared, especially the Epcot resorts. The ride can take a long time.
* Self parking can be difficult, especially at the monorail hotels.

We love POFQ, it is a beautiful resort, that being said, we have 2 DD, and stayed at POP for a couple of nights when they were 7 and 9 and they loved it. I thought that it was cute, but way too much, and it was very crowded, but the kids loved everything about it, including all of the different pools, so depending on your family, I would not disregard POP. No matter where you stay have a great time

Yes!!

How is the bus transpo?

We didn't use the transportation, just the boat to DTD & that was great.

Which buildings are the best to stay in? TIA for any info.

The resort is so small that you really don't have to worry about bad buildings, everythings just a short walk away.

We stayed at POFQ this May and it is beautiful! The only negative I can think of is that it does share a bus with POR. On busy days it would take us almost an hour to get to a park! :( But you do have the boat ride to Downtown Disney, which is much faster than taing a bus, so maybe it balances out.

Hi Tammie -
I'm with the other posters - we LOVE POFQ - beignets, that pool and the atmosphere - especially since none of us will be visiting the REAL FQ anytime soon!
Also, as the previous poster mentioned - rooms size! Checking round the web in prep for a previous visit - I found the sq. ft. of rooms to be - 240 vs. 340 at POFQ. Since my DS sucks up space - the extra 100 sq/ ft. clinched it for me!!!
If you can work it out in your budget with the codes - please go for it.For me - the added atmosphere and reduced size of the entire resort, PLUS the added room is worth the extra $. Problem is - then you will be spoiled. From now on it may be mods and you'll be looking into the deluxes.....lol

Enjoy! melomouse :grouphug:

I it sooo worth it!! I LOVE POFQ!! :love: I think it is the best moderate! Well.. at least for us!! It is a very charming quaint resort. The room is very lovely and very nicely themed... The whole resort is nicely done...nicely themed. It is great for all ages. It's quiet... but yet.. it's a fun resort! I hope you try this resort, so you can experience the charming, lovely this resort is.

I bumped my old thread for you to read and see the pixs!

Hi, we just got back on Saturday from POFQ. It's our fav. moderate resort. My DD6 loves the serpent slide and we love the hot tub. We also visited the sister resort POR and loked that pool and slide too. Also having the ref. in the room without the $10 is nice. We stayed at POP in Jan. and liked it too. However, it was really too cold to use the pools that trip.

If budget is an issue, as you see by my signature line, we sometimes split our stays. This can be a problem though with tickets unless you get the no expire option (we do)

As far as buses, we don't use them. As far as building locations we like buildings 3 or 4. Close to food court, pools, playground, and (important for us) parking lot. We stayed in Bldg. #3, room 3137 this time on the ground floor. Just like I requested.
Have fun.

Thank you all so much for your replies. You've made my decision easy. If a code or free dining come out, we will upgrade (might as well spend what we would have saved since it was already budgeted for). I didn't realize the rooms were actually that much bigger, as well as the double sink! Now that I am all excited about this resort, Disney better give me a deal! Thanks everyone!

All I can say is YES!!! POFQ is our absolute favorite now. Just be prepared though once you go mod it can be difficult to go back to value. princess:
