I am considering a split stay for our next trip. My question is if you have to check out of one hotel at 11 and into the other at 3, what do you do in the mean time?? Can you check out late or check in early??

We have our luggage transferred to the new resort by bell service and enjoy the parks for the day. You can check into your new resort anytime and your luggage will be delivered to your room

We have our luggage transferred from WL to the Poly, last time we did a late breakfast at 11:00 at the GF(ALice in WOnderland). We called Bell services at the WL to get our bags at 10:15, drove to Poly, parked and rode monorail to the GF for late breakfast. When we came back to Poly our room was not ready. We had packed a swim bag and swam till around 3:00 until our room was ready. Other times we have just gone straight to the parks and had our bags transferred, very easy to transfer bags. My only complaint is that they never deliver our bags to our room until we arrive in the new room and call bell services. It would be nicer if the bags were just there when we arrived in the room. I have a sneaking suspician that it might be related to getting a tip(however I would gladly deliver a tip to Bell services later if they would deliver it to the room before I got there). The biggest hassle about a split stay is not the transfer of resorts but packing things up. All in all, not really a problem because we have to do a split stay. My family cannot bear to stay at just the Poly or WL, they have to have some of both. A good problem to have in my opinion. A few times we have gone over to the other resort early and our room was ready.

I'm one of those grumpy split-stayer-try-ers, and didn't like it. Weather was junky that day (slight rain) and our room wasn't ready until 3:30 if memory serves. Needless to say our 2yr old didn't have his nap and we were all tired. We drove around for a bit, went and got groceries (DVC members), swam when the weather cleared in the afternoon. Not fun feeling homeless!

We changed hotels 3 times on our vacation.

The first hotel we stayed at was the BWI -- we went to MGM early on check-out day and came back by 11:00 to have our bags transferred to the GF. We had lunch at Epcot then went straight to the GF. We arrived at about 1:00 and our room was ready for us.

After the GF we moved to the AKL -- we packed up the night before and went to MK early that morning. We had our bags transferred to the AKL at 11:00 then went to have lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. After lunch we took a taxi to the AKL and arrived there at around 2:00. Our room was not ready until around 3:30 so we took the time to explore the hotel. There was so much to see at this hotel that it didn't really matter that our room wasn't ready.

Our last move was from AKL back to the BWI -- we slept in on check-out day and had a late breakfast at Boma. After a bit of shopping in the lobby store and a last goodbye to the animals on the savannah, we called for our luggage to be tranferred and caught a bus to Epcot. We spent most of the day there then went to check-in to the hotel. Our room was ready for us.

We never really planned on checking out late, but at the BWI and GF we weren't actually out of the room until around 12:00, this didn't seem to be a problem.
Leaving the parks by 10:30 wasn't a big deal for us since we start early and by then we were ready for a little break.
Every time we moved the luggage was either waiting for us at bell services or was already placed in our room.
My kids are teenagers so being without a room wasn't a problem at all, if I had toddlers it might be a different story. I know how important naptime is!
I loved being able to stay at so many different hotels and would definitely do it again.

We had a late check out of the YC and went to the Poly, could check, in but not get our room number until 3 so we toured the resort, went to MK for lunch and then back to check our room

I'm so torn about this, anyone else that way? I want to do a split stay but then again I don't. This upcoming trip will be our 4th. First trip we flew and stayed at CBR. Second and third trip we drove and stayed at POR. I wanted to try WL because we love that theme but sometimes I can be a tight wad and cringe at the price to stay there all week so I thought we'd go to POP for the first 3 nights and then WL for the last three.

By accident we keep going commando and I want to relax and slow down this time. Just keep going back and forth about the spilt but for now it's the only way I'll stay at WL. I just keep thinking we could just go moderate all 6 nights..................what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused3

We just had the luggage moved by the resorts & went to the park.

We would check into the new resort later in the day.

We were at the Swan and they transferred us effortlessly. We checked in at the new place, then we went to the parks. When we returned to the hotel later, our luggage was waiting.

Well we haven't done it yet, but we'll be spliting this April. I too was concerned and many on this board have assured me that it won't be a problem. Our plan is to have a "free day" on the day of the switch. We'll check out of CSR (have luggage picked up by bell service), and then probably spend day swimming there, going to DTD, lunch, and then check in to ASMo. I'm not holding too tight to any particular schedules that day.

We did this twice our last trip and it was no big deal. Just left our luggage with bell service in the morning, spent the day at one of the parks and went to our new resort on our own time schedule. Our luggage was there waiting for us and there was no hassle. We will be doing this once on our next trip too. It's a great way to experience more than one resort if you don't mind having to pack up your stuff. I could see though how it may be a hassle if you have little kids who need to nap in the afternoon. Otherwise I obviosly wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Luggage left one resort at 8:30 am and didn't arrive until 9:00pm that night. Called several times for it too. Needed things and couldn't get them. Lesson learned. Room wasn't ready until 3:30 pm. It felt like a wasted day. One and half hours checking out and then another hour or so to checkin the other resort. Wasn't good for me and won't do that again!

Last November we stayed in 3 different rooms at SSR. 1 night in a studio - then 3 nights in a 1br - then 3 in a studio (don't ask - needed to do it this way to help out a friend). We were in the same resort and I wouldn't do again. Never felt like I was "unpacked and settled" cuz I knew we would be moving.

First move - new room wasn't ready - out by 11:00 new room not ready untill 4:00.

Second move - well my daughter and husband both had a stomach bug that day. Pleaded with the front desk to allow us to move directly from one to the other, since I didn't know what I was going to do with a sick 2 year old in between rooms. They did it - but I could tell they weren't pleased about it.

In the end - too much of a pain for me. Packing - unpacking - moving all the food. My butt is staying put in the same room at OKW next week!

We've done split stays twice (Pop/SSR) & (Dolphin/BCV).

Both times, we drove over to our new resort, checked in, & just swam in their pool until our room was ready....both times were about 3pm.

It worked well for us since we had a car. For our Honeymoon, we had 1 week at the Polynesian and 1 week at Dixie Landings. Checked out of the Poly in the morning, put the luggage in the car. Went to the park all day. Drove to Dixie Landings in the evening and checked in. No problem.
