I just reserved a full size, emerald reserve for 5 days 12/18-12/23 and got a rate that is saving me $100 over my DC rate.

Those who have used the code, how did it work out and would you recommend it be used?

Thanks for any input, I'm alittle nervous about using this code and need some help.

mazzarafe, I used the code last month and had a problem with it. When I returned the car and they gave me the receipt, the price was about $50 more than the quote (this was a 4-day rental). I went to the National office to ask about it, and after staring at his computer for a while the agent asked me if I was a travel agent. I said no and he said that I should not have been able to use that code. Luckily I had my confirmation with me and he went ahead and honored the price I was quoted, but he commented that I would not be able to use that code in the future. Mary from Mousesavers says that mine is the only problem she has ever heard of with that code. But I, personally, would not recommend using it.

Pugsley,

Thanks for your info. I still have a ressie for the higher price but I'm hoping I can get it down some. I cannot believe what these rental car companies are charging for December. If I wasn't going to be there when the crowds will be increasing I'd just try using the buses for AK and MGM but I don't want to have to change my park days around to avoid crowded buses.

At least it's not more than I planned in my budget but was hoping to save $$ with taking a day off my National ressie.

I know that DH will not be happy if I have to fight with National over the price of the car when we return it. Traveling with him is hard enough when things go well, I don't want to add any fuel to his fire.

mazzarafe...

can you provide your "numbers" for your dates.......

eg....total costs .....DC and Wagonlit for the same car

I didn't have any problems using it. When I was leaving the ramp, the agent called over another agent because he didn't know how to input something. I am pretty sure it was the credit voucher that I had from national (from a previous trip) that needed to be applied before he charged me the difference.

I'm using that code plus a national coupon for my rental in October. I hope there are no problems. My total for 5 days is $120.60 for an intermediate, emerald aisle. That does include all taxes and surcharges.

lawgs,

My rental is for 5 days, full size and I'm using a coupon from Vacation Outlet (mousesavers site) for $15 off.

My DC discount w/coupon for 5 days w/taxes & fees is $239.55.

With Carlson Wagonlit code and coupon total with taxes and fees is $149.52.

It's a big difference for the same thing.

thanks for the information...

it helps people see the "bargain" you are getting..

I use this code frequently, because we rent from National here in Memphis a lot. I have never been questioned about it at all...

Plus, on my receipt that they give me when I drive away, the code says "CLG Friends/Family Discount" or something similar. It seems to me that you don't have to be an actual travel agent, just know one...So if they ask, you can always say that a travel agent made that reservation for you or told you to ask for that code.

I used the code over the Labor Day week (August 31-September 6). Did not have any problems using that Contract ID.

Used it in conjunction with a 2-car upgrade coupon from the Entertainment Book.

My receipt when I turned in my car said "CLG Agent Family Pass/Uniglobe Corp".

What type of car did you reserve and what type of car did you get with the 2 car upgrade? I'm just curious!

I'm at work now, and do not have my paperwork with me...but I used the Wagonlit Contract ID, and the Entertainment Book 2-class upgrade coupon (there are more than one of these coupons in the book, but one of them has less restrictions as far as days of the week you could use it and such...check the back of the coupon).

Full-size was the highest car you could upgrade to, and that's what got (I have to check my notes, but I probably entered a compact and was upgraded to full).

The Contract ID and Coupon saved me $30 from a previous Intermediate reservation, but I knew I would get a Full-sized car.

My total rental charge including taxes and all...from Sat 8/31-Sat 9/6 was $190. Keep in mind that it was a holiday weekend, and I made my reservation just a few weeks before my trip. I'm sure there were better deals to be had, I just couldn't find them!
