Hi all-

Just packing up some things and with all the recent airport craziness, I was wondering how everyones experiences with these types of bags are...??? Does the airport personnel ever open them while performing a luggage check? Have you ever opened your luggage to find it bursting with clothes???

I am using these to save space (they are great!) and in hopes that it will prevent airport personnel from rummaging thru my things.....

Please tell all!!!!!:sunny: Almost time to go!!!

I have used zip locks and my luggage has been searched. No problems, they don't appear to open the bags.

Watch the weight. I have heard that people have gotten so much in the luggage with these bags they go over their airline weight limit.

i have used them before with no problems. I must travel with my pillow, so I use it for that. I was concerned about the TSA opening them, breaking them, etc, but I figured it was worth the risk, and nothing happened to them. I have both the vacuum and the travel bags. The vacuum bags are superior, but you need to have a vacuum at your destination as well (doesn't work so good in hotels).

Good Luck

Hefty makes a 2.5 gallon one-zip bag that works great. Just press out the air, and zip it shut. Even has an area in which you can write on the front label.

If one gets opened by TSA at the airport or gets opened accidentally en route, there is no vacuum cleaner available to suck it closed again.

Really??? LOL ;)

Mark, where do you buy the 2 1/2 gal ziplocks? I've looked all over for them and haven't been able to find them.

There are also space bags out there that don't require a vacuum cleaner. You just roll them to get the air out. I got mine on HSN.

I use the Space Saver Travel bags when I pack. The ones that you roll to get the air out. They work great, however they didn't prevent the people at my local airport (which doesn't have X-Ray machines yet.) from opening them to check to make sure I had nothing stashed in the the bags between the clothing.
*sigh*

I hope they get an X-Ray machine soon.

Have a Good Trip!!
