I have read the section on Toy Story and why they don't receommend running there first thing in the am but in application, is this true. We're doing DL both mornings and a 3 hr stint in CA each day latter this month. We're goign to try Toy Story in the afternoon according to Ridemax. Thoughts?????:confused3

If I were you, I'd pick up some TSM fast passes whilst over in DL - just park hop, then you won't have to worry. Just go over to Dl as you usually would and sometime when DCA opens and your Dl schedule allows, send someone over to pick up the TSM FP, to use later.

It's a bit of a hike, but will save time in the long run.

Do you have kids, and how old are they? Asking in case they're old enough to do single rider by themselves (if you don't get put together). DD13 and I did single rider, and got on in about 10 minutes, both times, while the standby line was 35-45 minutes. This was midafternoon.

If you're on a weekday, the afternoon gig might indeed be better. Less wait time overall.

This goes back to my theory about the TSMM line. Going in the afternoon gives you more ride time at DL early on. Mornings are prime time for rides at DL. Some people will give up the short lines in the morning at DL to got to go wait in line to get in to DCA at opening. They then go straight back, where more than likely they will have another wait at the ride. By the time you count the wait to get into DCA and the wait at the ride it seems like it would come out the same as if you had just waited in line later. And you miss out on the rides at DL you could have been on. That's my theory anyway, and I think that is why Ridemax says to go in the afternoon. I haven't used it, but that is my guess.

I too would recommend using the morning for DL. In order to get in quickly on TSM first thing you'd have to get in line at 9:30am at DCA and wait for the rope drop... in which case you've negated any real value in getting there early because even if you only wait 15 mins once it opens you have to add the additional 30 mins you waited for the rope drop to get in that 15 min wait.

I agree with Pink Budgie & Jason (& i guess ridemax).

& i agree with your plan of "doing" DL both early mornings & hopping to DCA for your 3 hour (or more) stints.

It doesn't seem productive to give up an hour of early morning DL time (to ride TSMM first) when the lines for TSMM is at the 30-45 min. mark at 11:30am - 1pm.

That hour at DL that you forfeit means you lose out on collecting 2 FPs (for later) & prevents you from riding slow loaders in the morning (which would take 2 1/2 to 3 hours later in the day).

So i think your plan is a good one. :thumbsup2

I disagree, we just went to the parks and did TSMM first thing in the AM. First of all- you would still have at least an hour in DL to ride some rides and pick up fast passes (on MM days you would have 2 hours in DL). You can do a lot first thing in the morning at DL. Then, jump over to DCA and get in line for TSMM - if you are at a resort hotel, enter through the GCH entry way (even getting there at 9:50 would be better). We were able to ride TSMM twice doing it this way. We were about 8th in line when we went over, we got off and got in line again and in about 15 minutes we had ridden it twice. Then we got Soaring fp's. My DS and I also did single rider line for GRR (since this ride is now connected to the FP network) and then we all went and did Mulholland Madness (lines weren't very long this day). Then we went back to DL and used some FP's from the AM and did some quick loading rides like Pirates and Haunted Mansion.

I agree you and the others. Disneyland has the most slow loading rides and it is the park people go to more. Even when the cheerleaders where in full force on a Sunday there was only a 30 minute wait at Toy Story.

I rather get fantasyland slow loaders and the big rides out of the way first. Also there is less in DCA as a Plan B option. In DLR you can choose from lots of big rides and get a lot don whereas DCA is spread out too much as far as ride hopping. At DLR you can get a fastpass for Indy then do jungle cruise and Pirates then back to Indy. Send someone to get FP for Splash then do Pooh and Mansion. Lots of options and from the Rafts you have 7 rides that are must do rides. Go with DLR until you have a lot done.

Well, the plan for the Friday is DL from 8-11, CA from 11-2. Ridemax says 43min wait to Toy Story which I think will be manageable. The reason wy I swear by Ridemax is to minimize wait times. Then we'll grab Indy and Soarin' FPs for the evening. Back after 6pm to ride Soarin' at CA and Indy and a few other rides. Thanks for everyone's input~ :)

I'm confused. Indy is in DL & Soarin' is in DCA.

Were you going to hop from DCA to DL after 6pm as well (i assume after a rest)?

With Grizzly on line with the other FP machines, I couldn't work Soarin into the three hour window. So yes, we'd go back and do Soarin (thankfully close to the entrance of CA) and then spend the evening in DL.

That makes sense.

Am i correct in thinking you'll do Griz Rapids at the end of your 3 hour DCA window? (so you can take your wet bodies back to the hotel?)

& then Soarin' first after your break at 6pm (prior to hopping back into DL)?

:teacher:

:)

Yes, Ridemax says to get the FP for Grizzly upon entry and I'd probably get to use it by the end of the three hour time period.
Yes, the plan is for a lot of parking hopping!! I did an am DL stint followed by the 3 hr CA stint, break then evening at DL. Hop Hop Hop...you'd think I was the Easter bunny!:flower3:
