For those who take double joggers to WDW.....

I have a few questions. We've always taken our Dreamer double jogger to WDW (and love it!!), but it's not the one-step fold kind, and we have to remove the wheels for the best fold, so we check it in with our luggage (with no problems). However, I just bought a Baby Jogger City Series double jogger and we're taking this to WDW our next trip. This jogger does have the one-step fold (just lift up and it folds -- no removal of the tires...). So can you share your experiences with this type of jogger -- specifically, do you gate-check it at the airport? Does it fit through the security check, or do you leave it open (and empty of course) and they wand it? When we check in, we want to head directly to a park and not wait around for our luggage, so we'd rather try to gate-check it. Do you put it in a bag (or some sort of protection) when you get to the gate-check part to try to save on dings and damage? Thanks for any advice!

We also had the Dreamer, and we gate checked that. So, if this jogger is simpler, or less wide I can't imagine that you will have a problem. They always had us go through the handicapped access gate when we went through the sensors, and they used one of those wands to check the stroller. We just had to take the kids and stuff out. Then we folded it up as we were waiting in line to get on the plane and used some bungee cords to keep it together. It was there waiting when we got off the plane!

It was wonderful...gate checking is the greatest thing for airline travel with the little guys!

We have a Dreamer single (Manhattan Dlx) and gate checked it on our last trip. They just wanded it and pushed it thru the other side. No way was that thing fitting thru the Xray machine, even w/out it's wheels on, LOL.

Also I don't know if you have a bag. We didn't... but I did wrap the foam handles with bubble wrap before I gate checked it. I have had those get ripped up when traveling before (different stroller) and I wanted to protect them this time. It worked wonderfully. I just brought a couple of sheets of bubble wrap, and some hand-tearable packing tape.

hth!

Thank you both for the ideas. We just put our new one together and were just saying we need to buy something for the handle so it doesn't get damaged at gate check. This jogger has a locking strap on each side to hold it together when folded, but I was still thinking we should buy some sort of cover because the way it folds, the seats are on the outside and exposed to dirt and ripping. To fold it, you pull up on the seats (there are handles on the seats), so the seats will be exposed.
