For those who stay in Garden View at Poly...???

Thanks guys so much for the infos!! I am itching to go back! I have less than a month to go!! I was thinking of staying at Poly for the whole trip, but then I will miss my favorite moderate POFQ. I guess the best way to do it is by splitting. 4 nights at Poly and 3 nights at POFQ!!
I love POFQ too, and it was a tough decision not to stay there for our trip in September. I'm anxious to see if I love the Poly as much!

:sunny: First off, Happy Birthday :wave2:

Is it true that Aotearoa is being, or is finished being, renovated with the new decor? I just booked 2 nights GV at the end of my trip and am dying to see the new look for myself. I requested Aotearoa b/c I think I remember you posting that the renovation was already in progress a while back. My stay will be 8/12-14.
Thanks! :wave2:

I am curious who told you were guaranteed a NS building. Most can not even get a guaranteed NS room even with a medical request.

I requested non-smoking due to boyfriend's asthma and received a confirmation that stated that we had a "guaranteed" non-smoking room at the Poly. Now, I know that not all guests abide by the non-smoking rule, but I will deal with that when I get there.

Thanks for the happy birthdays.

Liz,

Aotearoa was supposed to be started but last I heard it was not. It is still supposed to be the first one done but I am waiting to hear from the Polynesian on the progress. It looks like at this rate it will not be done by August. This is why I don’t post the dates for the other buildings since they keep changing.

As far as Tokelau goes I agree that the corner room X915 is a good location as is that side of the longhouse but I still feel the opposite side is better since you can see the castle from most of those rooms and the fireworks as shown in an earlier post. I think having a garden view room that you can see the fireworks from your room is a huge bonus and other than the corner room on the east side where X915 is you cannot see the fireworks but it is still a great view.

Aloha

Tikiman- I saw it was your birthday- HAPPY BIRTHDAY :bday: I also hope you enjoyed your 4th of July getaway.

I'm new to disboards and I am staying at the Poly the last full week of September. Your webiste and the threads on this board have been very helpful. I've never stayed there before so I had a lot to learn.

I am understanding, correctly I hope, that Tokelau or Samoa would be the best buildings for us to request. We have a 5 year old, 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old. You agreed the Tokelau 915 rooms were good but also that the rooms at the other end were good because you could see the castle and fireworks from GV rooms. Which numbers would those be? Which room numbers in Samoa would be the best?

Also, we will have my mom with us and she's used to staying at the GF (she really likes luxury). Which of these buildings has newer hardgoods? I think that would be important to her.

Thanks to you and to any others who can help me on this! :)

Aloha bdlily,

I would not say that Samoa and Tokelau are considered the best to everyone. It just happens that this posting has many people that like those two. I could find just as many that like all the other longhouses. I myself consider Tokelau to be the best all around location but many would disagree. Now you can request but as it has been said in the past it is only a request and requesting a building is hard enough. I don’t suggest trying to request a specific room. You are welcome to do that but don’t get your hopes up on getting it. Most of the rooms on the west side of Tokelau (got to my Tokelau page and see the building map) http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/tokelau.html and see the side with room X914 on one corner and X939 on the other. That side is the side that you can look off to the right from most rooms and see fireworks and some even see the castle. The photos shown in this posting earlier show room 3940 that is far from the beach end and you can still see the castle and fireworks from your balcony. The opposite side cannot see this other than from the room on the corner at the beach end. The west side has such a good garden view that they made the last two corner rooms a lagoon view category.

If your mom likes the GF I am not sure if she will like the theme of the Polynesian. It is much different. The only rooms that might be done by the time you go would be in Aotearoa. Other wise the rooms will have the look introduced in the late 90s. You can see both room decors on my rooms page. http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/rooms.html

Aloha

Steve
