When you filled out the declaration form at the post office did you list everything or did you just put snacks, toiletries etc.

Well first of all........ I want to tell you thanks for posting this topic..........I got into it on Friday w/the lady at the Post Office she told me I had to list everything, I told her no I don't all I have to put is *****GIFT FOR MILITARY PERSONAL / PERSONELL ITEMS*****
well she wanted to argue w/me about it so just to make her happy I listed stuff, but it all wasn't in there. My dad is a post master and has been for over 15 years and that is how he fills out the forms just like I did. My dh had a package opened up when I listed all the food in one box we had sent him and we were mad........so they tell you, you have to list EVERY ITEM, but......I don't....just a little advise ...... ;) if you need to send items that you SHOULDN'T BE SENDING....... ;) just put it in a plastic bag and wrap it up good and put it in the box before you get there or stuff it in there before you take it to the counter...... NOW DO YOU THINK I'VE EVER DONE THAT????? :p :p :p

ClassicPooh, is it true Im not supposed to send magazines that have pictures of girls wearing bikinis? I have an US magazine and it has a big ad of a girl wearing a bikini on the back cover.

I just sent out package number 7 this morning to my son. My customs form was filled out as: Batteries, Food Items and Personal Hygiene Items. That's the way I've filled out every one.

As for the "bikini" pictures....don't send it. It all has to do with the fact that they are in a Muslim country. Not only no magazines with bathing suits, we were also told to be careful of sending family pictures showing women in shorts, tank tops, etc. The Muslims don't want to see women and SKIN!

It's the same thing with sending them a bible or any religious items. Luckily, my son took his rosary with him in his sea bag.

I've been writing down each thing on the custom form (takes all day, lol) so I'll be glad to stop doing that if they let me. I have missed an item or two though because when I get home and think about what I've sent I'll remember something I forgot to list.

When I mailed mine the postmaster had a form that said something like "Bona Fide gift for personal use of military member" He told me to copy that on the declaration form and that was all I needed. I hope they make it there!

I lised everything (4 sm. kleenex packs, 4 sm. poptop canned fruit, .....) it took forever!!

I found it impossible to find any magazine that dont show some pics of women not fully dressed. What about Mens Health or Cylce world that have a small pic thats not obvious?? One also had a cigarette add that I though adout using a glue stick to stick the pages together. I think thats the only "bad" pic in there.

I boxed my stuff up already and my daughter included a note and a photo of her and Minnie Mouse. She is wearing a sleeveless shirt. Her arms are the only thing showing and shes only 7 but still..hope it makes it there!

Should be fine allicat. ;)

Some soldier will be very happy to hear from your little sweetheart!! :D

I listed every item too. It will certainly be nice if they let me generalize it more next time. :)
