??? For those who live close to LA...

Going to California this summer to visit best friend from college
We are spending a few days in San Diego, then heading to Hunting Beach to stay with my friend then off to Disneyland for 3 days.

My question is.... we would like to do a tour to do all of the "touristy" things in LA. A tour that might include seeing the Hollywood sign, walk of fame, Kodak theater, Beverly Hills, homes of the stars....that kind of thing.

Do you think we are best to do this all on our own or just take a day tour?
We would like to do as much as possible in one day before hanging out with our friends.
Sugestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for your help.

We will be traveling with 2 children ages 12 and 14.

We have an entire planning section for LA and So Cal, DLR, Las Vegas etc.....why don't you haed over there? lots of great information...........

I actually did post this in the Disneyland forum but since it is not directly a "disney" question, my post was removed.

I am more interested in ideas for a day in LA to do the touristy stuff (non Disney related)
