For those who like the bus system- AKL buses

We will be staying at the AKL for the first time in April We have always used the buses before this trip and have stayed at all the values and mods. We have never had a real issue with the buses, except at peak times which is understandable and DTD. With that being said, I am a little apprehensive about using the buses from Jambo House. It seems like everyone has a different opinion, but I was wondering what the opinion was of those who use the buses and in general enjoy the service. The biggest issue is going to be the MK which is furthest away, but then we have to park at the TTC and take a monorail which will still add time. We can rent the tiniest car budget offers for $130 so that's not really an issue, but I wanted to know from those who like the bus service at other resorts, what is your opinion?

We've always found the buses at AKL Jambo House to be just fine. They seem to come fairly often and generally go straight to the parks after the Jambo House stop. On the way back you typically make a stop at Kidani, however. It is a relatively long ride to the MK, but no longer than if you would drive it yourself.

Haven't had a problem with the buses at AKL even since Kidani opened. Much better than WL and the additional stops!

Well said. WL is far worse (like DTD with extra stops)

Truth is you may be able to save 5-10 minutes tops if you drive a rental to MK, but is that really worth the expense. With rental car you still have to go the TTC, then park out in the boonies, then get to the monorail to go to MK, so IMO not worth the hassle. Just ride the bus and don't look at your wristwatch like it's a stopwatch. Relax and enjoy the scenery

We stayed at AKL in April/May of this year. I had heard about the incredibly long ride to MK from there and was curious. I timed each of our rides to MK from AKL. Got on the bus and watched. Shortest time was 12 mins and longest was 16 mins. The long one was also because we were stopped by a supervisor at the entrance to MK and all busses had to stop for some reason. It delayed us slightly. Only long wait for a bus to arrive was going to DTD late morning. I understand DTD busses don't run as frequently so it was expected and undertandable. A little too long (27 mins), but didn't wreck our vacation. Other than that never had to wait very long at any park or to go to any park. You will have a great time.
