For those who leave out "food" for the Wise Men and camels on Epiphany eve (January 5th) (think Santa's milk and cookies). What food do you put out? Also how do you explain to your kids how the Magi get to everyone's houses in the world in one night to drop off small gifts and sweets? Interested in any answers provided. (This will be my last Three Kings Day thread as I know I have made several on different related topics).

In Buzz’s family we leave out some grass or hay in a shoe box and water in a small bowl for the camels. We leave out hot chocolate and some dried dates for the "Magi" themselves. Traditionally, because it's little Christmas, usually the family recieves three gifts each (one from each Magi) and a gift bag of sweets of some kind. We agree in the family to have a budget limit to how much to spend on all three gifts we give to each other.

I never heard of this Buzz. I do know many regions of the world have different traditions so I'm guessing this is one of them, what part of the world does this tradition come from?

I am familiar with blessing the home. A Catholic home can be blessed at any time but it is favored on the Epiphany so we got chalk today at Mass and a little instruction booklet.

The neighbor is a pastor at a local church but not Catholic. His cat actually comes over quite often. He/she is a sweet kitty.

I’ve never heard of this tradition before but I’m not Catholic. If I had to explain to my kids how the Magi make it to everybody’s house in one night, it would be something like “you know what the Bible says…with God, anything is possible.”

I put out cilantro and parsley that was past its prime, into our compost pile just now ... would camels eat that? I know the deer browse the pile and eat a number of things, so I think the camels could as well.

It makes sense given that the 3 Wise Men are Catholic Saints as well (hense the chalking of the door tradition for today and tomorrow). Feel free to check out the king cake videos. All three types are delicious I've heard.
