For those who have taken Germany tour, what time do you arrive in Munich?

Hi All -

I'm trying to coordinate a personal appointment in Munich (which would be day 7 of the Germany tour....so leaving Rothenberg, going to Steiff museum and then onto Munich).

My question is....what time do you arrive into Munich?

thanks!!

3:30ish....but your Munich tour would start right away at 5pm-7pm. You will not have much time to unpack before the tour begins. You won't want to miss it because it will be your only tour of Munich. Next day is Neuschwanstein and farewell dinner.

Thank you! I definitely don't want to miss a minute of the ABD, but I may have something important to take care of late that afternoon.

We're going to Munich for 2 full days before the ABD, and I've also hired a personal tour guide, so hopefully, I won't be missing too much in Munich.

If you are going to Munich for 2 days prior to your adventure, you will be fine. We arrived around 3:30-4:00PM on a Saturday afternoon and I thought it was harrowing...it was so crowded and so packed with people, and they do a really crazy fast walking tour of the main part of the city. It was a little bit of a shock to the system after coming from all these quaint little Germany towns that weren't very busy. The only part that will be a bummer for you to miss is the little bit of history the local guide gives you before you set out for your walking tour. We stayed for 2 days in Munich after the ABD ended and I really ended up loving the city as we were there on a Monday and Tuesday and it wasn't very crowded and much more pleasant to walk around.

There is a small chance that I may be able to sign for European delivery of a new car at the BMW factory! Right now, we're struggling to align the logistics since they're fully booked and I only have a small window to do it. After so much planning (and spending so much money), I don't want to miss a minute of ABD.

But I'm ok missing the short Munich tour since I've been there before and we're doing 2 pre-days. The BMW experience would be awesome, and something really amazing to remember. So, I'm crossing my fingers to see if they can accommodate the time I requested, otherwise, I'll need to pass. #firstworldproblems. LOL! :)

Oooo! That sounds really cool! I would definitely go for it! Especially since you've already been there, and are doing 2 pre-days there! Be sure and post pictures if they let you take them! :thumbsup2

I've been on more than one ABD where someone had a personal outing they wanted to do either instead of an activity or rather than returning to the Hotel, and the Adventure Guides were VERY helpful and accommodating in helping figure out the logistics of getting there and back. I had arranged a lunch with several British friends after our visit to the Tower of London, and asked my Guides the easiest way to get to the restaurant where we were meeting (much closer to the Tower than to the Hotel) rather than heading back to the Hotel with the group. The bus driver insisted on taking a slightly different route home, and dropped me off at the foot of the bridge that I needed to cross, and the restaurant was just the other side of the Thames. It was really very nice, and they were happy to help!

Who knows, I wouldn't count on it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped you off at the BMW factory if it wasn't too out of the way... Then your luggage would magically be waiting for you in your room when you did get to your Hotel.

PS, I just checked, and Google Maps says that BMW World is 19 minutes from your hotel. :)

@Sayhello - We are actually doing a plant tour at BMW during one of our pre-days in Munich, but unfortunately, the car that I'd like isn't releasing until the week after. That's why they're so slammed and unlikely to be able to accommodate my request. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

It is really close to downtown Munich, so it would be easy for me to travel back there when we arrive into Munich with ABD. The bus drivers are really great! When I was in Scotland last year, the driver dropped my family and another family off at Culloden when we were in Inverness (on the way back from Rothemurchus estate). It was a really amazing experience and would have been difficult for us to navigate on our own. We had a cab on the way back to downtown Inverness and had dinner before heading back to the hotel.

I see you're going to Scotland, and you'll have a great time. If you've read Outlander, then Culloden is a must do! I'd really like to go back to Scotland...and hopefully with the new Outlander series premiering on Starz, there will be more 'Outlander themed tours available. I'd love to go back to Edinburgh, Inverness and the Highlands. :goodvibes

Off by a *week*! Isn't that the way these things work! Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too! :thumbsup2

I actually haven't read any of the Outlander series. I don't know that I'll get a chance to read much of it before I go (I'm in a play in mid-July, and that's taking up most of my time these days!) Is it worth it to just read one or two of them? Especially since the ABD doesn't go to those places?

I'm really looking forward to my Scotland trip! I'm *trying* not to wish my summer away! :goodvibes
