For those who have ridden Mummy...

OK-here's my big wussy fear. I don't like things to touch me. Does anything (like bugs) touch you or do you feel like you've been touched? You know how in A Bug's Life, the "bug" runs under your seat?

I'm threatening to make DH ride it alone before I get on it!!

about the bug thing: no, not really. You may get squirted with water, which can cause you to freak a bit, thinking you got a bug on you (that's one of the recent things I screamed at). But some seats feel the water more than others. It's more the thought of the bugs that would creep you out, rather that feeling them or anything.

Hi all! A few more questions.....DS Colton will ride RnR but not Space Mtn or Dinosaur. FREAKED out the entire ride of Dinosaur. DS Connor, will ride anything, ToT is his favorite. Will Colton not be able to handle this ride? Is it meant to be scary...like AE was? Or is it more thrill then scare? I have the feeling we'll be baby swapping...even though they will both be old enough. What is the height requirement? Connor is a tad on the short side...he takes after Mom! Thanks!

Can't compare to RnR...never been on it (haven't been to Disney since they opened it...).

The ride is more thrill than scary...the beginning may appear to be scary, but it's not too bad...

It would be risky to take him on it. It is a dark ride with scenes of peril 'n such similar to a Dinosaur or a Indiana Jones. The coaster part is similar to RnRC but with a better layout and flashes of ghost instead of cardboard cutouts.

On the bugs, I heard it's possible they'll add more to it to make it feel like the bugs are crawling, but I haven't really confirmed that.

eeek! I hope not rocketman! :p :p It's bad enough for those who hate bugs (ie - ME).

thanks guys and gals! I am thinking maybe we'll send Daddy on it first to scope it out. Colton is funny..he hates the Dinosaur ride, LOVES all the Indiana Jones movies. Loves RnR but won't try SM! Should prove interesting! We'll just goooo with the floooww! Thanks!

Sounds like an incredible ride - bugs don't sounds too nice, but it'll be worth it for an attraction like this. Roll on July!

Bugs!!! I loathe bugs. Just thinking though......our webmasterBarry will be in his element. The joys of infestation all over again!! All he would need extra to make this the ride of the century would be a sealion and a walrus....eh Barry?!!!:p

My youngest daughter, 6, loves coasters, the dinosaur ride, watches Harry Potter and watched the Haunted Mansion movie and loved it. I tend to think that she would probably like this ride but she will probably only be about 47 inches or so, so if the limit is 48 we will have to wait until we go back some day. My oldest, 9, loves coasters but hated the dinosaur ride and gets freaked out by bugs so I wonder if she would even go on. We may be using the Mariners Club so we can drop the kids for a little while and go on by ourselves.

I had already heard that you do not turn upside down at any point..that really makes me sick. How long do you go backwards, is it for a long time...that is not good for me either. A short backwards trip is fine, such as on Maelstrom...thanks!!!

It is short like Maelstrom with a dip about as steep as the first dip on Pirates of the Carribbean except you are going backwards on Mummy.

I rode it last Monday night and it is Awesome! The flames on the ceiling are cool, the fast burst up hill is cool also! And especially the drop!

What kind or ride is it? We're trying to decide if we should hit Universal this year. We haven't been in 2 summers so we're due back. Does it compare to Rock N Rollercoaster?

We rode the Mummy last week. It was a really cool ride and we enjoyed it! BUT...RnRC was better by leaps and bounds!! No launch, including the Hulk, was as fast as RnRC. Plus, RnRC goes faster, turns you upside down at least once, and was just more fun for us. We rode it 7 times, and after the Mummy, we had no desire to get back on. The ride was cool, though. We didn't think it was going to be open, so we were thrilled to ride it.

I don't think it should be compared to RnR. I love RnR also but RnR is a rollercoaster. The Mummy is a "dark ride"* where only part of it is a roller coaster.

Also RnR lasts less than a minute and Mummy is a little over 3 minutes long. If you're looking for strictly a roller coaster ride, then I'd recommend Hulk or Dueling Dragons. Their rollercoaster elements are better than the Mummy.

The mummy has elements similar to Indiana Jones ride and Haunted Mansion with a rollercoaster element. It is much more than just a rollercoaster and as such will probably never achieve what most people expect in a rollercoaster. The rollercoaster aspect is cool on Mummy but is only a small portion of the ride experience.

*dark rides are rides such as PoC, HM, Dinosaur, Spiderman, etc.
