For those who have ridden Everest....

Several of the drops are curved, but the biggun is straight down..no curve 'til the end. We rode five times today, and I loved it. Take it from a roller coaster chicken, this one is a keeper! For the full experience, ride in the very front...you get the full impact of the broken track and the Yeti!

OMG, no way!!! LOL. I am glad you told me that though, about the drop. I have this fear of "falling out" so I won't get on anything without a harness. Oh, except BTR, I love that thing.

I am such a big baby. DH and DS love to laugh at me (with me etc) on the rare occasion they talk me in to getting on one.

Please tell me about the backward stuff...I hate anything backward and that may sway me. How long does it go that way? Is it in the dark?

Does anyone have the link to this video that I keep reading about?

The video really will do nothing to show you what the real ride is like. I would say about half of the ride is in the dark. Well, I can't honestly say, because I rode it in the dark. :)

The drop is 80 feet and there is a hard bank at the bottom. For those with the "falling out" feeling, the turns after the drop will surely cure that.

There are already tons of spoilers out there so I won't feel badly...

The first reverse section of the ride goes into the dark and up a steep curved section of the track that had me wondering if we were going to go inverted the first time I rode it. But at the point where you think you might "go over", you crest a hill and head back down.

I believe that even "coaster chickens" should check this one out. The audio and visual effects are worth the ride.

The 80 foot drop is frontwards. The backwards part starts out pretty slow and it is never really that dark. it picks up speed and makes a few turns and goes uphill and stops. then it goes frontwards and to the drop. I saw a couple in their 70's get on this ride. Ride it at least once. if it messes you up, it is worth it.

I want to ride it SO bad, but I am scared to death!!! I told myself that if I ride RnR and like it, then I will ride EE. I have NEVER been upside down, so RnR is the BIG ???, too! ARGGHH, I hate being a scaredy-cat!!!

Yes, it goes backwards and it is in the dark. About half of the ride is inside in the dark. It's not pitch dark, however. I rode it twice last Saturday and it is worth the wait. It is similar to BTMRR but better.

You can't be a bigger scaredy cat than me! I hate going upside down, too, and until yesterday hadn't ridden RnR...I figured I survived Everest (and can't wait to ride again) so why not try RnR, too? My opinion: RnR is fun...the inversions aren't "that" bad, and I rode most of the way with my eyes closed anyway so I didn't see 'em comin'. I passed on riding it a second time yesterday, but I will ride it again in the future...this time with eyes wide open.

I don't care about drops, upside down or curves. What I hate is things popping out at me. Is there anything popping out at you in the dark? What does this Yeti thing do. When I went on Dinosaur the part where the dinosaur popped out at me, that was it for me. I never went back on. I have problems in the Haunted Mansion when those skulls come popping out behind the grave stones. So as long as there isn't anything coming out at me I'll ride it!

I did not notice anything poping out at us. I do not know if you ride Dinosaur but the Yeti does not get as close as the Dinosaur does.

The Yeti "swoops" down...well, at least his great big furry arm with claws does...but you see him well in advance of the swooping so there's no popping out at you. And it's not really scary unless you're in the front car of the train. From the back of the train, he seems far away so he can't getcha!

That's a nice link. But, it doesn't tell what the slope of the 80' drop is. 80' didn't sound like much anyway, but now it is starting to sound like a weenie ride. Which is great for everyone who doesn't like coasters!

I just thought this was going to be a serious roller coaster. Kinda bummed.

I started another thread with this vidoe link but thought I would post it here too! You actually get a pretty good view of that drop!

It is definetly not a "serious roller coaster". They had media day while we were down there and on the news they stated that Disney did not want EE refered to as a Roller Coaster but as a "thrill ride".

Please tell me about the darkness...is it comparable to Space Mt. because I can't stand that. I really hate the darkness when I can't see whats coming up next. Is it like that?

Not even close to Space. This is an outdoor coaster like BTM. There are some inside the mountain parts like BTM but nothing bad.

The darkness on EE is different than SM...for one, it's a much shorter distance and for another is a much smoother ride. :thumbsup2

The only part of the ride I think people are going to have trouble with is that backwards portion around a curve and thru pitch blackness. I NEVER get any sort of sick feeling on thrill rides (I've even been to Cedar Point many times which has the worlds craziest assortment of coasters) and that backwards portion actually made me feel a bit woozy for a brief moment SEVERAL times. Yes, like at Mission Space, I would suggest keeping your head back and eyes open even though you can't even see a thing.

After 18 rides on the thing so far, all I can say is, "WOW"....best Disney attraction we've seen in YEARS...could easily be argued that it's the best ever created by the company. The sheer size and scope of the surroundings (Serka Zong), the show building, and the mountain itself, makes this thing a force to reckon with as far as the entire theme park industry goes...unbelievable stuff!

Look for more audio tours of the grounds and of the ride itself over at the Trapped on Vacation podcast. You can download all files from the site as MP3's and play them anywhere:

Look for the newest audio from the sneak preview this coming week after I get back from WDW (I'm, of course, at the resort now).
