I am an assistant teacher. Several of the students in my classroom were sent home this week with a high fever and flu like symptoms. Well today I feel like crap but I have no cough, no fever, no sore throat just a headache above my eyebrows and I am just not feeling good overall. I don't have severe body aches like I did last yr with the flu but let me tell you I still feel pretty bad. Im wondering could this be the flu or maybe just likely a sinus infection. I was hoping you guys could share your experiences.

It seems there is no rhyme or reason to the symptoms that people are getting.

DD's friend that sits next to her at school had it. He had no sore throat, no cough, no fever. Just lethargy -- no energy. Tested positive for it.

Another friend had a temp, runny nose, awful headache, cough and body aches and tested positive for it.

I was in the bed for 8 days with fever, cough, body aches (awful) and headache. I think it was the flu, but I didn't go to the Dr b/c I knew they are just letting it run it's course and not doing anything for it unless you have an underlying medical condition.

Both of my kids were home this week with what I thought for sure it was the flu- they both tested negative.:confused3

Sinus infections aren't usually diagnosed as sinus infections unless you've had the symptoms for 14 days.

You may have a flu like virus, or a cold or-- it could be the flu. Welcome to the age of "I'm not sure what I've got, and the Dr's aren't either.";)

Hope you are feeling better soon.:)

Isn't that the truth! Everyone seems to present differently. I think I'd treat the sinus symptoms first, but otherwise behave as though I had H1N1 so that I didn't spread it easily. If you get worse, be seen for sure. Hope you feel better! Those cute :sick:little buggers will get you sick!

I'm still getting over it. It started with a headache and backache. The I ended up sleeping the whole day which is odd because I have cronic insomnia. Then the fever and sweating started. I have no sore throat or congestion. The doctor did give me Tamiflu because I have asthma.

All I have is severe lethargy and a not so severe headache. I just dont feel right but I also don't feel as bad as I normally do with the regular seasonal flu. I too have alot of trouble with insomnia but last night slept about 11 hrs which is really unusual for me. I don't know if I should go to work or not tommorrow since other than a headache I really don't have any "sick" symptoms to speak of.

I came home from school (I'm a librarian who had had class after class of kids coughing, sneezing, etc. all week ;)) on a Wednesday afternoon feeling really tired. I had a headache that night before I went to bed. Got up at 3 a.m., still had a headache, and took some more aspirin.

I got up that Thursday morning and felt fine. Went to school. About 1 p.m., I started feeling cold and not feeling very well. That progressed until I left school at about 2 to go home. At home, I had a 102.5 temp. By the time I saw the doctor, I had 104. She gave me some shots and Tamiflu (I did develop a cough afterwards so she called in some cough medicine).

I slept at least 12 hours a night for the first week and coughed a lot. I had a fever for 2 weeks (missed 11 days of school) and just went back this past Monday. I didn't have a sore throat or muscle aches. I mainly just felt like I didn't have the energy to move and felt really bad.

I'm sending my dh down to Walgreen's for a thermometer even though he says I don't feel hot to him. I just feel sooo tired . I also feel a little sick to my stomach and have a headche. Oh and I can't get warm. I'm just thinking the doc will look at me like some hypochondriac nut if I go in with those symptoms alone and no fever.

Now that you mention it, I was a little sick to my stomach too (never vomited or anything tough). They did give me a shot of phenergan at the doctor's office (that was part of it anyway).

You may be in the stage that I was in on that Wednesday evening. By all means keep a check on your temperature. Hope you're better soon!

I'm betting if you can't get warm, you have a low-grade fever at this point (unless, of course, you live in Maine or something;)). To me, that's the first sign of a fever. As it gets higher, you start getting the chills/shakes. When it breaks, you sweat like a pig.

It is probably the flu. I argued over symptoms in a thread last week.:lmao:

Obviously I still do not know 100% however I think we all had it. My older dd in college got it the worst. She is STILL getting over this atrocious cough. She had the high fever for about 4 days.

With me I had a slight fever, like 100.8, headache, felt like I had a bad cold, blowing my nose (etc). Once that blew over, the phlegm started. Hacking cough for about 2 weeks. It was like you are coughing up a lung.

Then 2 days ago, I woke up and no more coughing. It was weird. It was like my body fought it off and it was done.:confused3

I only took Motrin during the illness.

The CDC's own website says that you don't have to have a fever to have the swine flu so here is my question. The usual guidelines are that you stay home from work or school (in my case both) until your fever has been gone at least 24 hrs. Well what if you never had a fever on the first place?

I don't know what to tell you. DH never had a fever either with it.

3 of my kids and I all tested positive fotr swine flu last month. We all had sore throat first, followed by low grade temps, chills, body aches, headaches and upset stomach (some with diarrhea)

Our doctor said fever free for 24 hours, or after 5 days of symptoms.

DD started with an earache then 2 days later high fever, body ache, chills and a sore throat....

My DS11 had a bout of it two weeks ago. He started with a low grade fever on a Tuesday night, with a stomach ache and headache. The fever got a little higher the next morning, and the other symptoms were still present. After taking a nap in the afternoon, he spiked a 104.2 fever, so I took him to the ped who diagnosed H1N1 after testing. He also said he had a little trouble breathing. (She said she couldn't officially call it that because the CDC requires the testing be done in a hospital to officially say it's swine flue. But she said that was what it was.) So she gave us a script for Tamiflu, which had to be compounded because there was no liquid at any of the pharmacies. DS took one dose and immediately threw it up because it tasted so awful-maybe because of the way it was made. So...we settled for Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever at bay. The symptoms stuck around until Sunday, when he felt much better.

So symptoms were: High fever, loss of appetite, headache, tummy ache, difficulty breathing, and lethargy. for 5 days.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

Our pediatrician said most of her positive testing cases were mild, slight fever-achy-sore throat. She says the regular influenza is much worse this year and she's seen lots of that.

That it sometimes presents no fever greatly concerns me, since that is the litmus test for our school nurse to send kids home... I have had two confirmed cases in my room this year. Both kids weren't well one day and then were gone the next. Were they contagious that first day? Probably so...

I think DD14 had swine flu last week. She started with a bad headache then a fever, cough and was very tired. We didn't have her tested so I don't know for sure.

My DH is still getting over a lab test confirmed case of Swine.
Initial symptoms were a nasty cough and low grade fever, on day 3 he developed a sore throat and just felt like crap for a few more days. The fever never went over 100 but he coughed until every muscle in his body hurt.
He went to the Dr. on day 3 and they gave him an antibiotic for the lung infection that was developing.
It took a full week before we got his test results and then he went back to have his lungs checked and the Dr gave him "good" cough syrup.
it has been 3 weeks and he is still coughing and dragging but on the mend.

DS who lives on campus at our local Univ. had identical symptoms 1 week later than his Dad. The Urgent Care did not test him due to his not being in a high risk group. DS was over all but the cough within about 6 days and urgent care gave him a RX cough syrup also.

DD same story only week 3 (its been a really long couple of weeks around here) the only difference with DD is her cough only lasted 2 days but her fever and sore throat hung around for about 6 days. Again Urgent Care and Her Dr refused to test her she did not fit the risk groups.

I'm moving;)
