For those of you who have had personal contact with the podcast crew:

Please share your story about the first time you ever had contact with a podcast crew member. This can be contact by phone, e-mail, physical, they read something about you on the show, etc.

Kevin responded to a thread about me a couple weeks ago. He didn't address me directly, but just the fact that he appeared on a thread about me made me feel faint.:faint:

I was completely amused by the fact that I felt ridiculously and deleriously happy:hyper: about having such a nearly personal encounter with a podcast member, and I thought it might be funny to read about other people's reactions under similiar circumstances.

i had personal contact with most of the podcast crew. i met corey a couple of years ago when i went to visit my uncle. ive met julie a coupke of times, both are great, fun people to hang out with. ive known john for many a years since he lived in Jersey, the guy cracks me up:lmao: . i met walter a couple of years ago while i was visiting family. pete ive known for as long as i can remember. i remember when he started this website when it was just a fansite. did i mention that Pete is my Uncle.

GAK! A family relation?!:worship:

yea i am very proud of my uncle. gets to do what he loves everyday and make a living off of it. i think its great.

It makes me feel so fangirlish (read: stalkerish) admitting that I reeeally REALLY wanna meet the podcast team. Shoot, I wanna be on the team!

They're so unspeakably cool and they make me feel like my four year old self anxiously waiting in line with my autograph book in front of Mickey's house...and I wanna be that cool too. :rotfl:

Maybe if I meet one of them the coolness will rub off on me?

Kevin answered my e-mail one time a couple of months ago... I was so ecstatic!

.....until I found chat. :)

Absolutely thrilled when Bawb read my e-mail about Ft. Wilderness last year...even more thrilled when I went to the first December Podcast meet last year and met everyone! Voice shaky, grinning like a madwoman (how else?), acting like a total schoolgirl geek...until I met Will, of course. Then I settled down and started plotting....

I've had the pleasure of meeting Bawb at F&W last year.

Bob holds a special place in my heart.

I was at the Podcast Meet last December and got to meet the crew along with UrsulasShadow! Poor Will! :sad2:

I was in DTD back in May and met Kevin, John and Kevin's Mom and Dad. (This is my side of the story. Kevin's Mom has another! :lmao: )

I was absolutely giddy when Kevin read my e-mail last week (Southwest procedures for buying 3 seats). I can't put into words why I feel the way I do about the Podcast Crew but I feel that they are a very big part of my life and it seems that I've 'known' them forever.
We were fortunate enough to be able to go to the Podcast Meet last December and as we were trying to locate the room it was in, I said to my Dh "I recognize that voice, it has to be in there". It was Kevin's voice and I recognized it immediately. I actually each of the Podcast Crew have very distinctive voices that set them apart and make them easy to 'recognize'.

I think this may have been Kevin:

It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, a shot rang out! A woman screamed.

None of this mattered to me. I was hungry. Big time. It was a theme park hunger. Hunger born of dozens of queues, countless strollers avoided, and three nasty encounters with wayward ECVs.

I slowly approached the entrance to the Coral Reef. I didn't notice the hulking figure standing in the shadows outside. I heard a low whistle that sent shivers down my spine.

"Hey buddy!" the voice whispered.

"Who me?"

"Anyone else out at this hour?" it rasped. I looked around. Epcot was packed. Well, yeah, I thought. In the background, I could hear the gulls shouting "Mine!" "Mine!" "Mine!"

"What do you want?" I asked nervously.

"You got an ADR in there?" he asked. His thumb jerked nervously towards the restaurant entrance.

"M-m-maybe," I stammered, not knowing what he wanted.

I soon found out. Before I knew it I was up against the wall, my lapel firmly in the mysterious figure's grasp. He pulled my face to within inches of his; I marveled at the minty freshness of his breath.

"Let me give you some 'friendly' advice," he snarled.

"Gulp!"

"I mean it! Now listen to me very carefully, OKAY?" His grip tightened on my shirt and I felt a button pop. His, not mine.

"S-s-sure," I answered. "W-w-what is it?'

"You listening?" he snarled. It sounded sinister, almost snake-like.

""Y-y-yes," I stammered. I had recently taken up stammering, and was getting quite good at it.

"The crab cakes."

"The crab cakes?"

"The crab cakes."

"What about the crab cakes?"

My lapels disappeared inside his massive fists. "The CRAB CAKES!" he shouted. People looked at us. Children shied away. Somewhere, not in Epcot of course, but somewhere close, a dog howled. He let go of my shirt.

"The crab cakes are to be avoided AT ALL COSTS." He turned and stalked away in the direction of the Segway tour.

That was the last I saw of him.

I'm good at stalking away. :lmao:

I've had personal contact with all of the podcast crew. Some more than others. :lmao:

That's the first thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread, and I was just shocked that people were talking about their personal contact with members of the pod-crew on a family friendly forum...

I have not met any of them yet. It wasn't until after my last trip to the World that I "found" this wonderful group of people.
Now however....its my obsessive mission to meet them.:cool2:

My, my...that young mind certainly does run to the gutter, doesn't it?;)

I've had two voicemails read on the show, which is pretty cool; I agree about that weird feeling to think that "they" are talking about what you sent in.

A better story, though, which I've mentioned elsewhere before, but is worth mentioning again...

Back earlier this year, I had needed an off-site hotel for my last night's stay after switching to a less expensive flight. Thinking I'd want to give the business to Dreams Unlimited, I checked their site, and on one of the pages about off-site accommodations, there was a phone number to call. When I called, imagine my surprise when it was _the_ Bob. He gave me a few quick suggestions, and asked that I call back to let him know how it worked out. Because of my party size, the suggestions didn't work out, so I called back, and he informed me he'd have to call back a bit later, as he was on the golf course, working on research for a "send Bob to the parks" segment.

When I talked to him later that afternoon, he explained in great detail about each location that he recommended, including driving directions to downtown disney so that we could grab a bite to eat at Earl of Sandwich (his suggestion, of course). Half an hour later (that time flew, btw), I thanked him and was about to hang up when he said "Wait! You aren't going to ask me about how golf went today?"

I was on the phone for nearly an hour, learning about every golf course in the greater Orlando area, how much they cost, how to get discounts, what time of day to go, and how he did on each course. Mind you, I don't play golf (though by the end of this, I kind of wanted to), but do have a basic understanding of the game to realize that his scores were respectable. I noted and complimented this, and that's when he replied, "Yeah, well, we cheat." Queue the discussion about playing best ball, taking a few Mulligans, kicking the ball into the hole, etc; all the great things that would eventually be known as "Bawb Golf" when the segment aired a few weeks later.

I will forever remember it as the best conversation I ever had about a sport I don't play, with a friend I had never met.

OK. I need to know more about the exchange between Will and Ursulashadow . . .popcorn::

I am also interested in Kevin's Mom's side of the story. I think I am confused by what you mean there's a difference.
