What degree do you hold and what was your major? Do you use that degree (and major) in your everyday life (job, etc)? Would you ever consider going back to school and obtaining a degree in a different discipline?

For those who have not gone to college, would you consider going back to school now? If so, what would you major in?

Economics, and yes I use it for my job. Funny thing is, my first 2 jobs out of college I didn't really use it. Now I use it all the time.

I do wish I stuck with Chemistry or another science. I have considered going back for my law degree.

Business Administration with a minor in accounting

I use it every single day.

I'd love to go back and study law. I have taken some courses, and I'd love to have time to go full-time.

my undergraduate degree is a BA - I majored in History. While I think it was a great foundation for a liberal arts education, and in that sense, I use it daily, I don't use it for my job. I have a Masters in Education (Instructional Design) and yes, I use the skills I learned in that program daily in my career (instructional designer).

I have an associate degree in Retail Mgmt. I don't use it and don't intend to.

2 Bachelors:

Writing: I do use this one occasionally in my job. I do feel that I have a better command of English so I can communicate effectively with customers. Most of my coworkers have atrocious writing/speaking skills!

Elementary Education: Sorry to say I don't use this at all anymore. I would love to have a teaching job so I can use these skills all the time.

I'd love to continue and get my Masters!

I got a BA and a Masters Degree right out of high school and did work in my field at first (education). I don't work in that field now, but without my degrees I would not have qualified for the perfect part time job that I have now, so it was certainly worthwhile. As far as going back to college now, not on your life. I have great admiration for folks who go back later, especially while raising families, but I couldn't do it, nor do I need to.

Bachelor's --Elem. Ed
Master's -- Reading Ed

I use both degrees everyday as I am a 1st grade teacher going on 20 years. :teacher:

**Would I do it again..yes. The hours are perfect for my family. I get vacations off with my children.

My major was Chemistry and I'm a Chemist so I use it for my job.

Ironically, my passion is baking so I've been thinking about returning to school for pastery and baking. My dream would be to open a bakery.

I have a B.S. in psychology and have always used my degree in each job I have held.
I am currently an investigator and it comes in very handy!

I'm almost finished (Done in August) with my bachelors in accounting. I hope I can go on to do great things! :)

As far as post-education, I want to get my CPA license ASAP and then eventually maybe my masters... maybe when I'm older I will get my PhD and become an Accounting professor.

I have a B.S. in Computer Science, which my kids think is hysterical. They think I don't know anything about computers; things have changed so much since I quit when he was born 19 years ago. I currently teach preschool, 4 year olds. If I had to do it all again, I would major in elementary school education.

My BA is in history and I also have a Master of Public Administration. While my job is not relevant to history (I'm a human resources director), every day I use the writing, research, and analytical skills that I acquired during my major.

My passion in life is travel and whenever I am abroad I am so grateful for my history degree and liberal arts education. My undergraduate studies really enriched my life.

BS in Civil Engineering. Yes, I use my degree in my work as well as in life in general. I'd love to have additional education, but did not enjoy the academic part of college, and would never have the discipline to go back ;o) I did earn my engineering license, though, and that carries alot of weight in my profession.

I have used mine ever since I graduated with a B.S. in Education. I also have a M.S. in Geosciences. While I don't teach Science anymore, I do get paid for the additional degree. I have an add-on endorsement as a librarian and currently use than in an elementary school. Teaching is still a part of what I do since I try to collaborate with teachers to support their lessons.

That said, if I had it to do over again, I would go to law school. If I wasn't 50, I would consider it now.

I have a BS in Education, with a concentration in English. Since I'm an English teacher, yes, I do use my degree in my job!
I'm halfway to a Master's of Science in Education. I would have liked to get my degree in library science, but unfortunately there was no program with "in state" tuition I could attend. My school district is paying for my MS Ed., and I couldn't afford to pay for the Master's in Library Science on my own.

I have two degrees. The first one is in Nursing and the second one is Elementary Ed/Early Childhood Ed. I am perfectly qualified to be...a mother!

I have used both degrees at one time or another. I have worked mostly as a pediatric nurse, but I have also taught 3rd grade and I homeschooled my kids for a total of 12 years*graduated 1!* At the moment I am retired from nursing, but if the right thing came along I would come out of retirement. With my skill set there are probably a lot of things I *could* do--teaching, special ed, nursing, babysitting, right off the top of my head. But I'm sure someone else could think of way more careers that might require my liberal arts education mixed with healthcare. I have never regretted my college choices, even though I haven't always worked in the fields. Education is never wasted.:thumbsup2

My degree is in Social Work. Yes, I use it for my job. Yes, I use it in my every day life. Funny, when you get a Social Work Degree people translate that to, " you can solve the words problems." That isn't the case, but I like to try.

BA in Political Science.

I am an IT Project Manager but so I don't use the politics part on my job but the analytical skills I learned in college are used every single day.
