We will be flying into Minneapolis from Marquette, MI connecting to MCO. From current flights it looks like we will fly into (B) Gates and flying out of (G) Gates. It looks like quite a trek and we only have a 48 min. layover. Will we need a cart to make it and how do you set that up? Thanks!

Are there just two adults? I’ve landed in F and G and had to fly out of A with about 45 minutes between flights and made it but I was hustling and using the moving walkways. There is a tram that runs between terminals but I never used it.

Suggest you request a wheel chair assist for the one with a heel issue. The wheelchair pushers are really good at getting you around the airport quickly.

Although maybe not optimal each airline has what's called a "mimimum connection time" at each airport. Delta feels that under normal circumstances a 48 min layover is good. If it wasn't they would not even allow you to book those flights as a pair. The last thing they want to be doing is to have to re-book all those connecting.

I second the wheelchair assist, they may also have a golf cart that will take you to the gate, I have never flown through MSP so I don't know. You should call Delta and let them know you are in need of special services and they can note it on your record. If you are able try and sit near the front of the first plane so you deplane quicker.

You can make it- but sometimes the flight from MQT is late. Often, it’s actually early.

It’s a bit of a hike, and if you ask for wheelchair assistance you can get it. B to G is faster if you walk than take a tram, so it’s a ways. It probably takes me less than 7-8 minutes at a steady clip. The moving walkways are available for most of it, especially the very long section over to G. Walking quickly on those means you move really fast.

I fly from the UP (Iron Mountain) into MSP all the time, and I’ve never been late or missed an outgoing connection.

Make sure you look at the map of the terminal. You will want to use the skybridge that connects between the C gates and the G gates. You can use this bridge without exiting the secured area. You do not have to walk all the way down to the shopping mall.

Do you go up an escalators to reach the bridge?

Just so you know-don't plan on having space for your carryon luggage in the overhead bins.
Minneapolis is easily one of Delta's top 3 airports for the most connecting domestic flights.
When the amount of time you have to spare, the flight will be mostly boarded and most flights out of there are full.

We get a connector flight out of MCO for all our flights. We have had the close 48 minute layover, and even when we were younger it was rough. Gate G is very far from Gate B, even with the moving walkways to help.
IMO, I wouldn't do it. But with a wheelchair it will be better, as the W/C attendants know the quickest way to get to your area. Be aware, they sometimes don't take you to the gate, but drop you off a ways from it so you have to do some walking. We always pick the longer layovers. Don't need the stress over slow moving people getting their luggage from the overhead bins, late arrivals, etc. You just never know what will happen. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but it has been our experience over many trips through MCO.

if you have flown into Detroit, how would you compare the distance between where you get off the small planes, cross the tunnel on moving platform and get to Delta large plan terminal?

The Detroit one seems longer- but it could be just because of the lights/sound long tunnel seeming endless.

Unfortunately I've never flown through Detroit. We prefer to connect our Delta flights through Minneapolis and ATL, or fly direct. We went through Houston once. Disaster. Never again.
