For those who have been to MK recently....

So, we have 2 pre-park opening ADRs at MK in a couple of weeks. To be safe, we should try to be finished by 8:40, correct? Thanks!

I would book and early ADR and then rush through it. If you don't think you can finish by 8:40 look for a later time, around 10:00 or so. You can hit the parks for rope drop, get in a bunch of rides, and then enjoy your meal. Food at WDW is too expensive to shovel down.

Regardless, I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say that MK routinely opens before the scheduled opening time.

With Magic Kingdom Welcome is at 8:40,the Park "opens" around 8:47.

If they don't do the full MKW,it is "possible" they may let Guests in a few minurtes befroe 8:47.

If Main Gate Guests were already boarding rides in Fantasyland between 8:30 and 8:45,that would be unusual.:)

We have done pre-park ADRs in the past and never felt like we were having to "shovel down" our food. I just wanted to be sure of the time since it seems others that finished around 8:45 found the parks to be open already. Thanks

I was just there last week. We had an 8:10 reservation at BOG and were out by 8:40. We immediately got in the rope drop line for SDMT (they had us form a line along the wall to the left of the ride) and were let in to the actual line during the morning show which was about 8:50. We were in the first train out. :)

A great tip we started doing after we were sitting in CP from a pre-parking opening ADR and watching crowds flow by the windows, ask for your check as soon as you are seated and have payment ready when they bring it to you. It is a terrible feeling to watch the crowds go by and you can't find your waiter to pay your bill. It was a lesson learned and has never happened to us again. We will be going in June and have pre-park ADRs on our 2 MK days. Part of the reason for them is to be just a step ahead of the RD crowds.

Same here.

This is just the way it "should" happen each morning with a 8:40 Magic Kingdom Welcome.:)

We leave for out first disney trip in 4 days, and pretty much every morning, I booked an ADR before the park opens because I was told by a friend that was the best way to beat the crowds into the park. However, for what I'm reading here, would I be wrong in taking from this thread that maybe I should move my ADR's (the one I can anyway, at this late in the game) to a later time....like 10:30, and instead try for rope drop? Some of my ADR's are at 8am exactly and I might could make it out by 8:40, but a lot of them are 8:20/8:30 times, so there's not way I'm making it. Thoughts?

If you can,I would move them, but I wouldn't sweat it too much if you can't.:)

I still think 10:30 is a good time to be in the park taking advantage of lower crowds, unless something has changed from last August. I'm not willing to take up that time with breakfast. Guess I'd rather shovel down my food with an pre-park opening ADR.

We were at MK last Sunday, 5/3, and my Good Morning photos are time-stamped 8:42am. I remember looking at my phone in line for 7DMT at 8:54am, and being so glad we got there super early for RD.

Can anyone tell me what the best time to arrive for an 8:05 ADR at MK (9 am park opening day)? I want to be early, but not too early! Thanks

It think it was my post the OP was talking about originally. I made a joke in my thread because there were a lot of folks still inside BOG as fantasy land filled up and lines formed. As they came out of the restaurant many people were stunned to see lines and 7DMT already loaded with people and running.

I was not mistaken about opening time being changed to 8:00 a.m. I was not confusing the other guests from BOG with people coming in from RD at the entrance. I said this happened at about 8:45. It wasn't just the BOG guest line for 7DMT I was talking about. At 8:45 the RD folks were coming into fantasy land. I was in line for PP at 8:45- but not moving in the line... just waiting for them to start letting us on- which they did at about 8:50.

I knew RD was not going to be at 9 a.m. sharp so we were done eating and outside by 8:40. We had been out there less than 5 minutes when the parade from RD appeared.

We left AKL at about 7:15 on a bus to the MK. We stood in the line at the main gate for 15 or 20 minutes. They started walking us up to BOG about 7:55 give or take a couple of minutes.

I saw that post, and I'm pretty sure the poster was just mistaken. Yes, sometimes RD happens early. But not more than 15-20 minutes early. And even when it does, I'm pretty sure they still hold you at internal rope drops for the different lands. In December RD was early but we had to wait about 5 minutes to get into Adventureland. Though maybe that's not true for FL since people have to be able to get to BOG.

Agreed. I saw the post I'm assuming you're referencing and it said that they exited around 8:45 to see people already in the park. I just figured it was probably closer to 8:50 and the poster didn't realize the welcome show ends at 8:47 so he or she was just surprised to see people before 9.

Our last trip we did an 8:20 ADR at CP and it worked out great. Now, we have been there many times so it was not a big deal if we missed one of the characters. We were out the door in about 25 minutes (we asked for our check right away) and were in line before the RD crew. I think 8:30 for an ADR would be really pushing it if you are at MK and you are trying to be first in line for 7DMT or A&E. Any other rides you are fine.

Also, there is still a great benefit at being inside the MK before RD if you want to get a picture in front of the castle...

Not sure if you made a Tusker House ADR at AK, but if you can walk out of there by 9:05 you are in a great position to hop on Safari and then head towards EE....

Okay. I give up. You are right and I just don't know what I am talking about .

FYI When I gave the YES tours the MK one started at 630 and my groups were able to get in earlier. We always aimed to be at Splash MT before park openings.

It was raining on April 28th and they just opened the park at 8:45. No rope drop or anything
