For those who have been to MK recently....

I would book and early ADR and then rush through it. If you don't think you can finish by 8:40 look for a later time, around 10:00 or so. You can hit the parks for rope drop, get in a bunch of rides, and then enjoy your meal. Food at WDW is too expensive to shovel down.

I agree! I often book pre park ADR's but not for early access to attractions. WE love walking down a Main Street that is relatively empty. The one time I wanted to hit an attraction at RD after breakfast was way too stressful for me. DIsney in park meals are expensive, so unless you book for the experience they amay be wasted. I would book lunch or dinner if RD was the priority.

Our last trip we did an 8:20 ADR at CP and it worked out great. Now, we have been there many times so it was not a big deal if we missed one of the characters. We were out the door in about 25 minutes (we asked for our check right away) and were in line before the RD crew. I think 8:30 for an ADR would be really pushing it if you are at MK and you are trying to be first in line for 7DMT or A&E. Any other rides you are fine.

Also, there is still a great benefit at being inside the MK before RD if you want to get a picture in front of the castle...

Not sure if you made a Tusker House ADR at AK, but if you can walk out of there by 9:05 you are in a great position to hop on Safari and then head towards EE....
Tusker House was teh only time I was worried about getting toan attraction "on time". WE wanted th Safari, and while we managed it with no issues, I found that I am just not suited to feeling as though I have to rush. LOL.

We had 8:05am ADR at Crystal Palace a few weeks ago. It was our first day at MK for the trip. When we sauntered outside at 8:55am, I was very surprised to see Main Street already flooded with people racing for 7DMT. I knew HS regularly let people in at 8:45am, but did not know MK had started doing the same thing. Our first ride was 7DMT, it ended up being about a 20+ minute wait standby. If we had known, we would have at least asked for the check earlier in the meal.

We were there on 5/7. Welcome show started at 8:40 and we were walking through the queue of Peter Pan's Flight by 8:50. Between 8:50 and 10 we got on 6 attractions! It was awesome!

Awesome-8:50-10:00 is definitely the "Sweet Spot"!:)

How does someone get out of CP within 40 minutes?? Does this mean you are skipping the characters? We usually do a pre-opening ADR there, but more for the great parking spot and empty park pics. We are rarely out of there before opening, but I want my kids to get a full breakfast without going crazy to hurry hurry hurry hurry!

I will say we got stuck with an 8:15 ADR on a day that the park was supposed to open at 9, but they changed it to 8am in the meantime so that killed our parking and pics plan.

Agreed. I saw the post I'm assuming you're referencing and it said that they exited around 8:45 to see people already in the park. I just figured it was probably closer to 8:50 and the poster didn't realize the welcome show ends at 8:47 so he or she was just surprised to see people before 9.

Okay. I give up. You are right and I just don't know what I am talking about .

Sorry, I did not mean to offend you. I definitely did not ever say you were wrong. Your message was posted while I was writing mine and I didn't see it until after I posted so it may look like I was trying to rebut your post but it was just an overlap in posting.

The welcome show usually starts around 8:40 after which time the guests are allowed into the park. Most days that is about 8:47, could the show have started at 8:38 this day therefore allowing for the rope drop crowd to be let in at 8:45? Sure! I'm not thinking the difference of two minutes between what you said and what I said was my saying you were wrong.

No problem aimes. :D Was just touchy because quite a few folks were taking a beating in their "just back" threads- not me, necessarily - And it wasn't really YOU I was cranky with, so I apologize. Sometimes it feels like we post information to help newbies out, and a lot of people chime in telling us what we posted is wrong.
