For those you have submitted a resale add-on to Disney & were declined:

How long before you sent in another offer?
Did you stick w/the same price per point & similar size contract?
Or did you raise your offer?
How many trys did it take?

I have time enough to wait before I really need these points.
So I'm tempted to low ball on my 1st try, but will this backfire on me? Do they keep a list of all the contracts you've bid on & compare it w/ any new offers?

I saw some crazy low list price <$60 for BWV) on a website, was this just to get a legit offer - were they in a hurry to get rofr'd & done w/it, no real chance of passing?

not Disney. If the seller accepts your offer and Disney exercises their ROFR, they then purchase the points. It has nothing to do with the purchaser. Once Disney exercises ROFR, that contract and those points are no longer available from the original owner.

Bid away and good luck.

So you're saying I have nothing to loose.
Disney won't put me on the cheap-skate list.

I was just trying to figure out why some get through & others don't. Looking on the Who's Passed thread it doesn't seem to be always based on price.

You don't have anything to lose. At The Timeshare Store, Inc.® we receive offers everyday. Most offers result in an agreement between buyer and sellers, however, some buyers make offers that are very low and the sellers don't accept or counter at a price where the buyer wants to move forward.

In my opinion you will have a harder time finding a seller to accept a really low offer and it will never make it to Disney (because of course the seller has to accept first).

Best of luck to you finding the right contract.

Last November I had an accepted offer for $65 for a loaded 160 SSR pts contract (Aug UY). It got ROFRd.

Within 24 hrs I put had another accepted offer at $65 for the same pts / same UY (it had fewer points from the prior year). It got ROFRd again.

Within 24 hours I put another accepted offer in at $67 for the same pts / same UY (it had yet fewer points from the prior year). This one passed.

It seems like DVD goes thru cycles of more active buying. Back then they were buying lots of contracts. For sure, I would pass today.

If you are not in a rush (and can be patient wait the 30 days), bid low bid often. You'll probably snag a great deal.

Give yourself maximum choice and get the listings from all the resellers. My three deals were with two different brokers.

Good Luck

So my next ? would be:

Has anyone ever had problems getting their earnest money back?

I was rofr'd only once, w/GMAC & I put it on a credit card. They credited back the card 3 weeks after the rofr notice.

I saw some cheapies on a site that I haven't heard much talk about & was leery of making an offer for fear I might loose my deposit .

Since I re-bid so quickly after ROFR my deposit covered one contract to the next. One of the deposit transfers was from one real estate broker to another, but they both recommended the same Closing Agent - so I needed to sign one additional letter getting everything transfered just right.

We we ROFR'd on a HH contract however I found another one I liked a short time later. The second time we passed and the strange this was that our number was lower per point than the first contract. It was hard to be ROFR'd but I am glad we were because the second contract had more points that I am now glad we have.

Good Luck!!!

I was rejected by Disney after I was accepted by a buyer at a very very low price. I was advised against the offer by my rep at the Timeshare Store. The next offer I made was almost immediately and it was just a little low, and got through ROFR.

I bought DVC because I live 60min from Disney and have two little boys. I like taking vacations an hour down the road. Disney properties are always kept up very nicely and there is so much to do all around you. I really recommend DVC.

If you are using a reputable reseller (such s The Timeshare Store) I would definitely take their professional advice when making a decision on what to offer.

I have taken advice each time I purchased a resale and my offers were always accepted and passed ROFR. No regrets here with any of them..
