For those who have been in Sept and Aug

Hi everyone, We have always went to WDW in Sept (middle to end). This year, between my son starting middle school and I took a new job as a aide in our local school we are not going to be able to go again in Sept. However, we will be able to take a trip in mid Aug (15/16-21/22) right before our school starts. What should I expect from what we are used to? I know we are spoiled from Sept crowds. Will middle August be double the crowds? I have been reading other threads where it was said that mid to late Aug wasnt nearly as crowded as June/July but I want to hear from some who have been in low season and then in our time frame. Thanks so much for your help.

I've been in both July and August. I don't find the parks to be all that bad during the week. On the weekends, it's a bit busier with locals there, but other than that, nothing you can't handle.

I found that aug was just as busy as june and july, and just as hot. but I stiil enjoyed it

I find August to be pretty busy!! But if you plan right use fastpass ect.. You will still have a great trip!

One downside to August is the heat and the major afternoon rainstorms. It will very likely rain about 3:00 every afternoon. And sometimes the rain just raises the humidity instead of lowering the temperature.

One upside to mid-August is that FL is back in school then, so the local crowds during the week are non-existant.

That being said, I did a two day commando trip right around that timeframe a few years back (before I moved to FL), and we were able to enjoy everything we wanted to do. I planned for the heat and the rain, and made massive use of the early entry (program replaced by EMH now). We tried to time our break with the rainstorms, and it worked pretty well.

Mid-August is definitely less crowded than late June/all of July/early August. I've never been in September, although I am certain it's much busier in mid-August. That being said, there will be crowds, but they should be manageable as long as you (like someone else said) take advantage of FastPass.

My DH and I were there in '02 end of Aug and for the first four days it didn't rain and there was no one there- PERFECT! It wasn't until Friday of Labor Day weekend that it got bad (crowds+rain+ B.O.)! Fortunately we left Sat. morn and didn't have to deal with "holidayers". We went this past September for 18 days and there was no one there, it's funny to look at pics. We are planning on going the third week of Aug because our AP expire 9/8 and I don't want to be around the holiday crowd. Hopefully we will be blessed with good weather again. HAVE FUN!

WE were there last year from Aug 16-25 and didn't think it was crowded at all. Ecxept for the heat it would be one of my favorite times to go.

We went 3 years in a row in August, and it wasn't too bad during the week. Typical summer crowds. Be prepared for the thunderstorms, but enjoy them too -- Florida lightning storms are amazingly cool!!!
