for those who have been in August

we're going for 10 days in August. I'm packing 3 shorts and 3 capris. Is it too hot for capris? I'll pack a windbreaker for rain, but I don't need a sweater, right? a/c doesn't bother me. I'm hoping to only have to do laundry once

I would not be comfortable in capris, I would take more shorts unless you are planning to do laundry one day. You will probably want to change midday. A rain poncho is good for the rain and like someone else said maybe a sweater for dinner if you get cold in AC. Usually in that kind of heat it feels good and I am usually cold! It will be HOT and HUMID!!!

I second the person who talked about doubling up on your clothes. I was so sweaty when I came home in the afternoon that I would change into a new outfit for the evening.

I did not wear capris at all, and though I brought a jacket, never used it. I found the BEST and most comfy thing to wear were short but loose strappy dresses, because I didn't have to worry about a sweaty waistband hugging my middle. :)

I would be too hot in capris personally. Definitley don't need a sweater. I think I packed one hoodie "just in case" but never used it.

We went in August a few years ago. I have a high tolerance for heat and normally wear capris during the summer but it was so hot I wore shorts or a dress everyday. It was also so hot that we ended up coming back to the room to change halfway through the day because we were so sweaty. So I would recommend packing more shorts for a 10 day trip.

Very hot, very humid.

Pack lots of light clothing. Dresses are good. The one bonus of summer is that tanktops/t-shirts & shorts take up less room, so you can afford to pack more clothing.

To me it is too hot for capris. I take only shorts and tshirts in the Summer. I've never found a need for a sweater or a wind breaker. I usually pack a few of the cheap throw away ponchos since they're easy to carry. I like to travel light- not only is it too hot for capris, I find it too hot to carry a bag full of wind breakers, sweaters, and crap.

I do not do laundry on a vacation shorter than two weeks.

We went end of August for years. Capris are not necessary.

I always bring a light, long sleeve (or 3/4 sleeve) button down shirt with me. I fold it neatly in my back pack. it comes so handy for the restaurants, inside rides with ac and it's always freezing on the busses.

We went one year in August and it was the most unbearable heat. I've been twice with Tropical Storms circling and if we could get out of the rain for the bits it rained it was actually quite pleasant. YMMV

I also agree about packing more than you might think you'll need, and here's an invaluable tip: especially bras! While at home I will wear one a few times before washing, but at Disney in the summer, no way! Too sweaty.

If you're shopping anyway, look into "wicking" clothes: tops, underwear, sports bras, socks....I used them for the first time last year and they make a HUGE difference. Plus, you can wash them in the sink and they dry quickly. You can find them at all price points, including Champion brand at Target.

I live in Northern CA, where we don't venture out without a sweater at night, even on the hottest days of summer. So it's hard for me to imagine NOT needing to bring one along on any trip. But when packing for WDW, I know that is soooooooooooooooo not necessary once I get there. I don't even find I need one for air-conditioned buildings like some - usually I'm thrilled to experience the relative coolness in those places for the brief time I am there. I may pack one for the plane, but it usually gets put away once I hit the airport in Orlando, not to be seen again until I leave.

I also would not wear capris. I pack skorts or shorts. Capris would be too hot during the day for me.

I have been to Disney once in August and we are going again this year, I have to say that shorts or sundresses are your best bet. You could wear capris too, but not jeans as they might be too heavy! It is going to be so hot and very humid!

I'm almost dreading it as I'm hot already this summer and we're in upstate NY! but I'm sure once we get there the Disney magic will make it worth it. DD is too old to pull out of school and we couldn't go on any of her school breaks this year so this was our only option. I hope it's bearable

I am in PA and the last two days have been unbearable. DH and I are taking a short trip to Disney the beginning of August and after spending all day yesterday at Cub Scout camp I'm kind of dreading this trip now. My only saving grace is that most rides/shops/restaurants are in air conditioned buildings. I can't imagine wearing capris in the August heat and humidity. I'm packing only shorts and a sweater because I do think some buildings get a little too cold with all the air conditioning being pumped in. I'm actually planning on packing two pairs of shorts and shirts for each day because I don't want to put my sweaty clothing back on after our afternoon swim.

Our trips were at the end of August and yes it is hot, but there is always an air-conditioned gift shop or ride cue close by. I would not recommend capris, it really is too warm for them IMO. I wore shorts or sundresses. But if you choose to wear sundresses I would also suggest buying "Glide' or Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel. If (like me) you don't have a "thigh gap" this stuff can be a savior when you're in a sundress.

This. Two of our three trips have been in August, and the other was one April when it was 90+ degrees. Wicking underwear makes a huge difference. You'll still sweat through everything but won't feel quite as much like a soggy mess.

Our family has travelled several times in August. I too would not recommend capris unless they are a really light weight fabric. I always carry a facecloth in a plastic baggie with me. I will go in the bathroom and wipe my face, neck, etc and it's very refreshing.

Have a great trip!!

Janis

I got those I think they are called Frog towels that you wet and they stay cool, hope they'll help
