For those who have already experienced the 60th celebration

Has anyone done the LA/Hollywood and beach tour or the OC beach bus tour?
I was thinking.......along with Disneyland and the sights on these two tours, that covers everything I wanted to see and I wouldn't have to pay for a rental car and parking????
Are the tours any good?

Would Hollywood be more crowded on a Sunday or a weekday?

Either would be about the same and neither will be unmanageable.

90% of the tourists will never leave one block...between Highland and Orange on Hollywood Blvd is the Chinese Theater, the Hollywood and Highland Shopping Center and, across the street, the El Capitan (Disney's movie palace) and Jimmy Kimmel theater.

What may affect crowds is if there is a red carpet event. Most movie premieres are at the El Cap or Chinese, and the Oscars and other events are at Hollywood and Highland.

If open to the public that day, the Egyptian Theater is two blocks east and worth seeing inside of (as is the Chinese and El Cap). Musso and Frank is one more block east and, after that, it's mostly "head shops" and "stripper boutiques," with the occasional book shop or magic shop.

The "locales" Hollywood is at Vine and Sunset where the big Arclight theater, Ameoba Music, etc., are. They also have a farmers market on Sunday.

If you're going to Hollywood you should at least go to the Griffith Observatory or see a movie at the El Capitan. Don't just go to stare at the sidewalk for 15 minutes because you'll feel you wasted your time.

I have done both. I booked through Aneheim TouR Company. They are a great way to see things without having to drive. The beach tour on the Woody Bus is especially fun. The drivers are knowledgable and they pick you up and drop you at your motel.

What about the LA/Hollywood and beach tour? What did you think of that? What time of day were you at the pier and did you get to see the Hollywood sign?

We did the half day LA/Hollywood tour. It stopped at Olvera Street, the Hollywood star sidewalk, and the Farmers Market. We saw the Hollywood sign from afar.

So basically 1 day for both of these? We could do Hollywood in the day and finishing up at Santa Monica? I would like to see Santa Monica during the dali ght areas and at night.

Up in that area it all looks better at night......
