For those who go to buffets.....

Why do you choose buffets ( your main reason )

  • I like food choice... hard to make up my mind at a regular place.

  • I like value... buffets usually have nice value

  • I like to eat a LOT.

  • I'm old... old folks love lots of food for cheap ( my mom's words, not mine ) LOL

  • other... please tell us.

We don't often choose a buffet, but if we do it is because we are picky eaters and at a buffet you can sample and change your mind about what to eat. You're not pinned down to the first choice you make.

More bang for your buck. And, I'd feel really stupid ordering a ginormous plate of mashed potatos at a sit-down place! :thumbsup2

Usually it is a family decision. I prefer not to do them. I will do special occasion brunches though (like on Easter Sunday or Mother's day if we are doing it for another mom besides me).

We ate breakfast buffets recently on our vacation--but that is b/c they were free.

I am not an "all you can eat fan". Feel too many take it on as a challenge and I just do not find it an enjoyable experience typically.

I think I eat less when at a buffet, since I take what I want and don't feel pressured to finish my plate (I'll blame my mother for that, I had to eat for all those starving children in China, dontcha know). I do like to graze though. Two bites of this, a spoonful of that, etc.

There's usually plenty of food for vegetarians, DH can eat right away if he needs to (diabetic), it doesn't take as long as a regular sit-down meal, and they're a good value.

No buffets allowed in this house per DH. I talked him into one (almost) last time we were on a trip and pulled in off an interstate for dinner. He nearly mowed people down in line :bitelip: behind us getting out of there. He hates them!

We sometimes go to buffets on vacation - we don't have any good ones here. We do it because it makes the kids so happy.

I prefer a sit-down restaurant but we do buffets occasionally. Usually because we can't agree on what to eat. I like salads and there's usually a good salad bar. A little something for everyone.

We dont typically do buffets. However, when we go to Disneyland, we'll usually have one character meal which is almost always a buffet. We also go to the occasional holiday brunch, but that is like once a year, and its upscale. Dh and I refuse to eat at a place like old country buffet or simular chain places. MIL and FIL are in their 70's, they eat there at least once a week, if nt more.

I had to go with other simply because I agree with three of the choices:
I like choices, I like to save money, I like to eat alot. In a few more years, I might qualify for the old one as well, but not quite yet.

it allows you to try food you may not order as an entree

We choose buffets when we travel with our grandson because we never know what he wants or how much he's going to eat! Sometimes he'll eat half a plate full of food. Other times, he'll go back three times! We know he'll always find something he likes at a buffet. It just makes mealtime less stressful for everyone.

DH and I rarely choose a buffet when it's just the two of us.

We choose buffet's because it is a good value for my family of 6. :) With 4 growing boys who can eat like there's no tomorrow, it is definitely worth it for us. :teeth:
Plus, I like the choices and I like to eat. :teeth:

We don't typically do buffets, but Boma is always an exception. :teeth: We also have a couple of local buffet places where the food is homemade and delicious, so we go there once in a while. We don't eat more than we would in a regular restaurant, though.

I love the choice of fresh food, and I like to taste a little of everything :goodvibes . I also like looking at the children making their own dessert, that's sometimes hilarious :rotfl:

I wish there were a kind of golden corral in france...

The kid's love Chinese buffet. Also, we went to the one in Disney, I think it was a New England style buffet and it was quite good for a buffet.

The only time we ever eat at buffets is when we are on vacation and then it's only for breakfast. I don't mind breakfast buffets because at that time of day the purpose is to get the kids fed and get going - I don't care as much about the quality of food or dining experience. Otherwise, I refuse to eat at buffets. The food is adequate at best and when I go out to dinner I like to sit down and relax with my family and be waited on. I don't care at all for the dining experience at buffets - I'd just as soon eat counter service.

The only buffets we do are when we're in Disney. Right now, since my ADR window just opened for our May 2007 trip, I'm planning our 8 day trip & the buffets we'll be at are:

Crystal Palace
Chef Mickey's (probably twice)
1900 Park Fare
Boma (possibly..part of the family wasn't crazy about it the last trip)

Any other recommendations, anyone?
