Enjoy it while you can.

Here's my email to Disney:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3245463&page=50

My family and I have been visiting Disney at least annually since the
early 1990s with several visits before that dating back to the first
year the Magic Kingdom was open.

We've taken advantage of FastPass since it's inauguration and had a
chance to use FastPass+ during Easter week this year.

The system that people are describing in the above linked thread seems
to put many of us at a great disadvantage. A cursory reading will show
that the system can apparently be spoofed by purchasing or otherwise
obtaining extra Magic Bands and then getting extra same day Fastpasses.

Now, I do not claim to be an IT professional but it seems to me that
there should be a way to stop this. Perhaps by making sure that only
accounts that have been used to enter the park that day can get same day
FastPasses? This worked well with older admission media and the
original Fastpass system.

We will be visiting again during Easter week of 2015. We don't expect
anything more than anyone else but certainly don't want to see wait
times inflated by others who are gaming the system.

And their (next day) response:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort. Some of our
guests will always test our system to see if there is a wrinkle they can
exploit. We expect this, and the issues you describe are already known
to us. As we go forward with rolling out the magic bands these types of
issues will be addressed, and I expect for something to be put in place
just as you say.

Should you have additional questions, please contact us again by
replying to this e-mail.

Note their choice of words: "exploit".

I'm glad you wrote that letter.

There are so many things that are not allowed to be discussed on these boards as they are considered to be circumventing the rules, yet this topic is allowed. I really don't understand.

Thanks for posting this!

Just waiting for the bombardment of " lol!!! an errant, anonymous cm doesn't know what they're talking about blah, blah, blah. But
I'm sure you realize your post is not going to be met with a lot of pixie dust and hugs by others, so thanks for taking the hit and posting.

FP's are in short supply for headliners as it is.

Hopefully, this puts an end to the excuse of " they let us so they must want us to do this".

LOL You think Disney didn't know this before you tattled?

I woldnt call it tattling - a guest wrote in to respectfully complain about an issue that bothered them. Disney clearly responded that they DID already know about the issue (an "exploitation" in their words, so clearly not an intended use of the system) and Disney reassured the guest about their plan to address exploitations such as these, rather than allow them to stand as an unwanted by-product. I'm not sure why this induced a LOL. . .

LOL You think Disney didn't know this before you tattled?

Complaining about an issue you think needs attention isn't tattling.

I take the point of his posting is to tell people Disney is aware and thinks it's an exploitation that they intend to remedy.

A lot of people on these boards claim that it's not exploiting and WDW doesn't mind. Apparently, that's not true.

The response the OP received sounds very similar to what someone else posted as a result of their conversation by phone regarding the throwaway rooms- maybe the cm in that case actually did know what they were talking about.

It induced a LOL because the OP seems to think they are telling Disney something Disney didn't already know and the snotty tone of the OP.

We'll have to agree to disagree on it being tattling.

So, I haven't been following that thread at all, but how much of an issue is this really? Not debating whether its right or wrong, just how realistic is it to think that anyone doing this is actually rocking the boat? How many and what kind of FP's are available same day? Maybe for someone going solo, carrying a few around might be an advantage, can't imagine trying to do this with a group and juggling a bunch of MB's for a chance to skip a 5 min line for Stitch.....

Good letter.

Glad Disney is going to close this loophole and I hope they close it entirely...that the bands have to be used for park entry that day to use any FPs on them. Including local APs bringing their family's bands, etc.

I'm always surprised the time people waste worrying about what everyone else is doing. You might report a rude CM or a safety hazard but to go running to complain to Disney about what other guests are doing?:confused3

Aside from that, the title of the thread is deliberately inflammatory which is disappointing.

Thank you for taking your time to do this. I really enjoyed reading their response. I agree with the above poster about what is allowed on this board or not. Isn't logical.

I don't send this stuff on, because I just assume Disney is aware of it. However, now you can rest assured that they know and that they will do something to fix it in the future. Those that exploit the system are probably just subjecting themselves unknowingly to Disney behavioral testing... Muhahahaha!

I don't have unattached MBs, I do have FPs on my DH's AP that he cannot use, so I'm using them... But it's fine if/when Disney stops allowing it.
I'm pretty sure the people who are doing the same day FPs realize that it's not going to last.
There is absolutely no problem with someone writing to Disney to alert them to something they see as a problem.
Posting here to brag about it ... I don't know of that's something I would have done, but to each his own.

Good for you. I don't think that they will implement this yet, because the park entrance, Mickey Orbs don't work consistently. They haven't gotten step one sorted yet. They really are at baby steps. There hasn't been a trip yet that I wasn't waved through, with "blue Mickey," at least once.

Thanks for this thread!

I'm all for gaming a system to max your benefits, but this magic band stuff is too far in my opinion.

Regardless of what the proponents feel, I think exploit is the right term in this case.

I guess I'm fortunate that I've been enough that I don't fee a need to ride more, more , more, and that our trip after Christmas is more about atmosphere than sheer number of attractions........but the idea of opening multiple MDE accounts, strategically linking reservations and tickets to those accounts, bringing multiple sets of MBs to the parks to wait on a kiosk lines for the opportunity to grab a couple extra FP+ that might or might not be useful.....nah, no thanks.

I suppose it's being done, and Disney is aware, but I agree that the numbers doing it are probably small enough that fixing the system to eliminate it probably isn't at the top of Disney's list right now.

Good point - the seemingly simple fix can't work yet because if a guests band doesn't scan properly at entry, they'd be locked out at the rides. Be assured
"They're working on it" (code for "please be satisfied with that response and go away, I'm busy!")

I agree with the sentiment but I find this thread and the "ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN" threat absolutely hilarious.

I find it's ironic how much playing of the system goes on with Magic Bands and FP+. I remember all those who wanted FP- gone saying over and over how unfair the system is, because people take advantage of it. Did you really think people would not do the exact same with this system? I have seen more "cheat the system" threads here since FP+ came out than I did when it was FP-. Yep those threads that *are not allowed*. But I guess my point is no matter what system they come up with, people will figure out ways to get around it.
