For those who don't really like BLT, why?

First time we stayed we loved it. We had a 2bd unit upper floor outside part of 'c' and end of the hall. The view was stupendous; we were able to see the MK when not admiring the lake and trees. The units are also a little larger due to the shape of the building.

Our second trip was on the inside of the 'c' even though we requested outside. Now, because of the chance of getting an inside 'c' unit, I'll avoid BLT. It isn't worth the chance of getting a view of a building full of windows and people staring at me too.

We did enjoy the Bocce Ball court though.

BLT is our home resort and we love it! I think it depends on what you like.

My DH did not care for AKL at all. So, I think for everyone there are favorites.

So far we have stayed at 3 resorts and I like them all. This summer we will experience OKW and VB. I bet I will enjoy both of them.

BLT location and amenities are fantastic. I love Disney but do not need my resort to resemble a theme park. I guess you could say it suppose to resemble Tomorrowland that is why CR and BLT kinda face that section.

I guess there could be threads for why guest do not like other DVC too! And I bet you will get responses negative and positive too.:upsidedow

True that. I HATED BWV. Awful decor looked like a yard sale had been ransacked, and that wall color?? Plus the terrifying clown pool.

I think that is the beauty of DVC, because the resorts are so varied there is one that fits each DVC member. The thing I wonder is will I prefer a different resort in 20 years? I wouldn't be surprised, what I like to do 20 years ago is much different that what I do today.

I have to admit that I was surprised at how I really didn't like some of the resorts. And then I realized it because I had already found the resorts I love, it made the others more unsuitable.

I completely agree with that. I just know nothing about staying at BLT and have never stayed at Contemporary or BLT...so many of the others we have stayed at so I can make my own opinion :goodvibes

I agree and it works in reverse too. We tried BLT out of curiosity but I didn't expect we would like it as much as we did. We expected to love the location but not the modern look and especially not the high-rise aspect and seeing all of our neighbors on the inside of the "C" but other than the uncomfortable furniture, we really enjoyed our stay there. We didn't really mind being on the inside of the "C" and appreciated the extra storage space in those rooms. We prepare some meals each trip and really liked the kitchen layout too. We will stay there again at some point, sooner rather than later if they replace those couches with something more comfortable.

What booking classification are the rooms "inside the C"?

My complaints in order:
1. Size of the studios
2. "Cheap" quality of the furnishings (we stayed there just 3-4 months after it opened and many things in our first room were in bad shape. switched to another room that still suffered many visual issues)
3. Noise can be an issue with the fireworks so close
4. The number of posts asking about going up to TOWL :)

However, I've generally had a good time when staying there. It has arguably the best physical DVC location which is hard to overstate its value.

It's not a specific booking category, but you can make a room request. The majority of lake-view rooms are inside the C, but there are some on the outside of the north and south towers, too.

So, on the "outside of the C" the higher floors are Theme Park/Magic view and the lower floors are Standard view. Is that correct?

There are some Lake View rooms on the outside of the "C". Rooms on the outside have even numbers, rooms on the inside of the "C" have odd numbers. Many of us who book a Lake View room add a request for an even-numbered room but (as in my case) many who request it do not get it.

When we were checking in and the CM told us "I'm sorry but your request was not met" she looked like she was preparing herself for the worst. When we said "That's OK. It was just a request. We'll be fine." she seemed SO relieved! It made me wonder how many guests make a fuss when they request but don't get an outside room.

Thanks, Lisa. We have only stayed at BLT once, 1 BR Theme Park view, and I remember the CM saying at check-in that the room ending in 14 and 16 are the best view rooms, because they are the 2 rooms that most directly line up with MK for a straight view. High floor helps too, and we did indeed have a high floor ending in 14. We back there the first week in December, and I hope we get that lucky again!

IMO the BLT TP views are not that great. The picture links in the thread that you provided shows what the views are like. Be mindful that some of the photos we taken with a zoom lens so the MK and castle look closer than they really are.

I think the best way to decide if you like the resort is give it a try. :thumbsup2

I do not think any of the resort will be really disappointing. We may have our favorites or least favorites but they all look pretty nice!:)

Love the location of BLT. Walking to MK or riding the monorail is great! and there are some great restaurants. We even had a Lake View but could also see the MK while on the balcony.

The Studios are small, very small for being a Deluxe Resort. There were 4 of us, 2 adults, 1 teen and one 8-yr old. We were on top of each other the entire time. Plus the bathroom situation was very odd. The door is a sliding door that did not lock and the sink is in the kitchen area. So I was doing hair and makeup in the kitchen. Completely put me off and I haven't stayed there since. We might try a 1 or 2 bedroom after we have tried all of the other resorts.

the bathroom layout and small feeling of the rooms are both things I noticed. Even the new layout bathrooms have TINY vanities.

We have learned to never judge a resort until we stay there. We have been surprised in the past. So while BLT decor and style is not our thing, and we avoid the monorail at all costs, I think the location in relation to the MK will be fun. It's actually near the top of our list of resorts we want to try.
