For those who did or will do 2 parks in 1 day

Do you plan this ahead of time and plan to get the 1day/2park pass?
Or do you plan just one park and when you have time you will do two? I'm not sure if I should go ahead and order a 1day/1park ticket online through the fanclub now... that way if we don't have time or are just too tired to do both we have our 1 park tickets.. but if we choose to do another park, we can upgrade - and they let you upgrade at the cost different, right? You don't have to buy a new ticket.

We went last year after a cruise and went on the 4th of July, we stayed at HRH so decided, what the heck lets do both parks and see what we can do. We did great, got there early and did alot at IOA and then after lunch about 2pm went to US. We did not see everything, but we did most of what people wanted...we love rollercoasters and mom loves US so we made all of us happy. I even had a 6 and 2 year old who did great. We did buy in at the hotel the day before. This year we will have 1 days each park so it will be a little more relaxed.

We did both parks on March 19th last month. It was very crowded due to it being spring break and so near Easter but we did great, as we had bought an Express Pass for both parks before we left and picked it up at guest services that morning. I also have an Annual Pass so we had no admission to buy when we arrived. Knowing that it would be crowded and we only had the one day there, the Express Pass was the only way to go..it was wonderful walking onto most rides and waiting no more than 10 minutes for anything.

Two parks in one day can be done, since we have been there so often it was relatively easy for us to see everything we wanted to see and do that day...

if you want to do both parks in one day. You can easily do it in one day if you stay at HRH or one of the other two because of FOTL access which allows you to show your room key. Worth EVERY Penny!

We did 2 parks in one day twice last year with 2 kids. The first time we had FOTL as we stayed at RPR. The second time we bought express passes. We did it easily and saw and did everything we wanted to. It was a bit rushed, but certainly do-able!

We done 2 parks in 1 day (withOUT FOTL) in September and January
The place is a ghosttown then! (well, during the week of course)

In January you can rule out some water rides (too cold) but DH got to ride the rollercoasters over and over and over again.

We would get there right when the park opened (it's not as busy then as with disney? odd!) and see Shrek 4d at US, hit mummy, then wander around the park doing everythign (somethings we skip - jimmy neutron/BTTF (did once and that was enough!)). Then, we'd have lunch at Finnegans (Love!) or hop over to IOA and have lunch at Mythos. (love!) and start on that park.

of course - it's just 2 adults...no kids in tow

Every trip we have taken to Orlando has been in the off season (April-May, October). We always do US/IOA and WDW. Because it is a slower time of year, we can do both parks at Universal in 1 day. Sometimes (if we have multiday passes) we do the whole park the first day and then go back another day to do our favorite rides. Sometimes we don't have time to do more than 1 day and 1 day is IT. We hit our favorite rides first thing in the morning before lines form. When the parks start to get busy, we then do the rest of the park attractions...knowing we will have to wait in line.
