Reading the other thread regarding height for SGE. I never did AE, DH did and I stayed off with the kids. Now I am sorry that I never got the chance:( Anyway, I understand that the shoulder restraints delivered some of the effects like the alien breathing down your neck. My question is, were they adjustable in any way? I mean I know women who are 5 feet tall, and men who are 6 and a half feet. How could the restaints work for various sizes? It seems that they would have to have had some leeway for different sizes. Now, I also agree that Stitch is really popular with young kids, however, many kids seem to be scared of ANY dark ride. My four have never been scared of anything dark, or fireworks, or loud noises, or any of that at Disney. We will not be going back until 12/05:( My youngest is 6 and pretty tall for her age. She is a Stitch maniac so I hope she will be tall enough (better measure her sometime!) Anyone out there who can give me details about the AE restraints???

The restraint lowered down mechanically from above. When it hit your shoulders it stopped and then raised up another inch or two to be comfortable.

I always sat up nice and straight so I would seem a bit taller, just to have more breathing room.

I also tried to sit up straight while the restraints were lowered at AE - it was still uncomfortable when it pushed down during the show.

I read another thread here on those who have already gotten in to see soft openings of Stitch and several mentioned the "pressure" from the restraints. I doesn't seem to bother some, others find it uncomfortable and once in awhile someone even feels it's close to painful. And then there are the ones who get claustrophobic being confined in their seats.

I am not so sure I'll really enjoy Stitch or Mission Space, but I will try them both just to see for myself.

Thanks for the responses! I am not a thrill ride person, I have extreme motion sickness, so I have never been on anything that uses a restraint. I'm not easily claustrophobic though, and I like the special effects in the 3D shows. I look forward to trying Stitch, but I hope it doesn't upset too many kids. It will be interesting to see what the height ends up being. My kids have never been scared of the Disney stuff, they know it is just make believe.

The restraints really kept you from moving around and it seemed VERY claustraphobic to me right from the beginning. But the worst part was when it started getting scary/creepy and all the kids started crying (then screaming) and the parents couldn't even hold their child to comfort them.

I'm glad they got rid of that ride. I wish I never went on it. It was awful.

If I get a chance to go on the Stitch ride with the older kids this trip, I'll do it. But I won't even think about bringing the little ones. If they do get scared, the only thing you can do is let them cry until the whole ride is over.

Oh, and the pp was correct in that the restraints came down from above you and stopped when they hit your shoulders.
