For those who are going or who have been at Christmas

For those who are going, JetBlue just released fares until 1/6/14. That's earlier than I thought. We got direct flights for about $435 pp. Not too bad for SYR.

For those who have been, any recommendations for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinners? We are staying at AKV Kidani. I'm toying with the idea of cooking our own Christmas Day meal and making no plans for the day other than to be lazy. But then again, the reality of getting groceries, etc. might be a different story.

Would love to hear any recommendations for Xmas at WDW.

I stayed at Kidani Christmas of 2011. We had Christmas Eve dinner at Boma. Christmas day was Magic Kingdom day so we dined at Plaza Restaurant in MK. Maybe Sanaa or Jiko?

Good point. We could hang out all day and then just go to Jiko for a quiet dinner.

We are using 10 day, no exp hoppers, so DH and I don't plan on visiting parks every day. Are we missing out on anything if we don't go to a park Xmas day? I'm assuming they are very crowded?

We went to DHS on 12-25-13. Yes, was crowded but probably less than Epcot or MK. Had a really nice dinner at Mama Melrose. A resort restaurant would be nice too. It was kinda cool to be in a park on the actual holiday- cast members were very friendly. When we walked down the main strip at RD, store cast members were outside the shops saying "Merry Christmas!".

Been twice at Christmas. LOVE it! The crowds don't bother me at all. Both times I just hung out Christmas Day. Might have been something to do with the NBA.

Last Christmas I went into Magic Kingdom later in the night. On a whim. Got in - it must have been past a closure/capacity time. Magical time.

The other time I went into Epcot for part of the day. It wasn't crowded at all. However, that time was 2010 - intense cold there and NE airports were backed up and closed during a storm so that had a lot to do with the crowds being low.

I adore Christmas Eve. 2010 they had a EMH at Epcot. Amazing time. One of my all time favourite memories of all my years at WDW. The kind of day where you go to bed just feeling so grateful and happy. We did dinner at Kona (great choice as always) then went for Wishes at MK and then went to to EMH Epcot and walked home to BW. I was flying in space when the clock struck midnight. Magical time. Such a wonderful memory.

So dinner - I would stay close and hang out. Jiko sounds wonderful. But there is nothing I like more than being lazy at WDW - so .

So jealous. Wonderful thinking and planning.

Oh and when I was trying to decide about doing Christmas dinner last year a lot of people had great reviews for Raglan Road - if you wanted some a la carte choices (they offered a special Christmas dinner as well) and nothing too $$$$. A lot of places seemed so overpriced to me. But if one doesn't care or need to care about $$$ I would just go for it.

Oh and Publix has a very reasonable Christmas dinner that can be picked up. I've seen some good and bad reviews of it.

And I forgot to say I did Christmas lunch one year at Teppan Edo. I made it because I wanted to be around a group of people at Christmas.

But it didn't quite work because I ended up at a table of introverts - myself included. But I did have an entertaining table mate. A sociopathic nutcase. He's here in my TR on this page totally entertained me then and in memory. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2626545&page=13

But regardless great choice of Christmas lunch - well it was probably breakfast the way I get up at WDW.

We were there this past Christmas, and we had breakfast in the room (cinnamon buns from Pillsbury -- family tradition) and then had dinner at Raglan Road...a nice compromise of no park but still holiday atmosphere and <lots> of people. Raglan is one of our favorite places so it worked well for us. It was quiet people-wise until the 26th...though it started to pick up on the 24th. It was a lovely time to visit.

We were there for Christmas 2012 and loved it! We did MK on Christmas Eve and met Mickey right at midnight. Then Christmas Day we did the Candlelight Processional at Epcot with dinner at Chefs de France. It was nice with the music and everything, but we're not very religious so it felt kind of long. Going to the parks on Christmas is great though, as pp mentioned. The CMs are great.

I was in MK on Christmas Day. From 7am to 7pm. I was burnt out from the day. Because of EMH we were able to get on the rides we wanted early. Its very crowded so if you decide to leave you may not get back in.

Oh and at Kidani they gave out Apple Cider and Cookies in the Library. It was nice having some quiet time by the fire.
