I read in the paper today that the 26th MEU was being sent to Northern Iraq. I haven't heard from AJ since Thursday so I don't know if his unit will be going. I can only assume that they are.

I will keep you all updated as I find out any news.

OH NO!!!:( . I just sent out their Easter package (fake grass and everything) I hope they get it. Let us know. Thanks

Thanks for the update Barb. If prayers and pixie dust can help these guys are as safe as if they are in their momma's arms.

Keep us posted on anything you hear.

If you have any extra names floating around, I would be happy to send letters and cards.

I hope all of our troops remain safe from harm.

Last night at our GS meeting I shared the photos of AJ that you sent Barb as well as the latest on their status. Also the rest of our adopted service people. It is always the first order of business. They were delighted to put a face with his name! After all the updates were delivered,

The girls decided to hold a "moment". This is something they have developed over the years when they need to process information, etc. It is a full minute of silence (sometimes longer if needed) to think about information they've received, to pray, to meditate.

Deb, your Girls are one in a million! I think it is very neat that they held a moment. I'm copying your post to send to AJ. I haven't heard from him in almost a week. His girlfriend hasn't heard anything either. Still waiting to hear from his mom. My guess is he is in Iraq already.

Thanks for the update I was wondering abt Paul. I haven't heard from him yet. I've sent out 2 packages and a couple letters and had another package ready to go the end of the week. I hope he got the first 2 before he hits Iraq, if not hopefully they'll catch up to him soon. Keep us posted I'm checking everyday.

I have to agree they are pretty cool Barb. And it is moments like those that my co-leader and I hold onto when we have the other sorts of moments that are typical of girls this age!

The rest of our meeting was spent working on a Self-Defense Badge, in part working on techniques to break a hold if someone grabs them with "hostile intent". Several of the girls have done this before but a couple haven't and were pretty timid about it. At one point I heard one of our patrol leaders talking with one of them and she said, "Look, you can't worry about hurting me. Bad guy is after you and you need to protect yourself...do you think Jessica Lynch worried about hurting someone in her training? Obviously she learned to fight well. Now fight for yourself!" She continued to be hesitant and I heard, "Our Marines are fighting too, you wouldn't want them to think they'd been adopted by a bunch of whimps would you?" Part of me was grinning about this exchange - even though this was a pretty serious topic!

Keep us posted.
