Although I'm not overweight, I'm into fitness and found this book by reading Oxygen magazine. It's called The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. I just thought I'd suggest it here after reading some of the posts and post titles and seeing what many of you are striving towards. It's a great book that will teach you to not only lose weight and keep it off (the author herself lost tons of weight and now is actually a fitness model), and it is the only book on the market right now that actually has an entire chapter devoting to cheating on diets and makes you realize how normal it is and helps you get over those rough speedbumps we've ALL encountered.

Anyhow, hope that may help someone here out - at the least I say give it a look through the next time you're in a book store.

I am going to see if I can get this at the library. I see it is a new book so probably will have to wait.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I recently found out that the same author is about to come out with a new book (in Spring) called Eat Clean Diet recipes.

Also, I've been eating clean but had never tried her recipes. But I saw that the recipe book was coming out so I decided to try one. Oh my god. I made her Adobo Rubbed Pork, and it was to die for (I love new foods, not a fast food kinda gal). My fiance loved it too and said he was happy I was finding recipes that taste great and are actually healthy :) After cooking it, I suggest her book even more! :D

I recently picked up this book and its great. It takes the guess work out of eating and it so easy to maintain a weightloss or even lose weight by following the principles. I plan to pick up the receipe book too.

By the way, the author is married to the publisher of Oxygen magazine.

Might be a dumb question, but what does eating clean mean? Is it the same as raw?

No, it's not. Though I did eat raw for a bit myself. Eating clean basically entails eating little to no sugar, and eating the right foods the right way. It says to eat 5-6 small meals per day (best to eat the biggest around mid day rather than at night). Each meal should consist of a lean protein (chicken breast, pork, fish, egg whites etc), and a complex carbohydrate (fruits/veggies or whole grains). It's actually really yummy especially since you can still use lots of spices (though in blends, you have to watch that high sodium content, try to avoid those blends) and just make some delicious foods!

(Edit : Also for anyone reading this and reading the raw foods thing. I've found that because of a certein "mom switching" show many people now think that eating raw meat is something that raw foodists do. I would like to make it known that although some raw foodists do like to consume raw meat...most of them are raw vegans. therefore they eat no meat, eggs, or anything of that nature)
