I'm Pooh sized (22/24) and I HATE shorts that are constantly riding up between my legs, so I bought some with longer inseam that I think will work, but I'm very curious about those that wear dresses/sundresses. What do you wear under it? My most akward moment was trying to get OUT of Indy cars at MK in 2008...with shorts on. I can only imagine how frightening it would have been for the people AROUND me watching.

Do you wear bike shorts under knee-length dresses? Do you have any problems getting in or out of rides with your self respect still intact and without being a "traveling peep show"?

Thanks so much for any input you can give. Can't wait to hear your responses.

I'm not "pooh size" (What is that exactly?) but I have a bit of chub and wear dresses almost exclusively because I hate shorts. I was worried about flashing everybody my undies so I bought some cheap $5 leggings from Walmart. They came to my knee and looked cute with the dresses. I also wear a tank top/cami under the dresses for the comfort. Hopefully that's something you can consider. Bike shorts could work too if you don't want them to show.

I have only worn a dress once in a disney park. It wasn't too short (not a fan of those), maybe a couple of inches above the knee. I wore it at emh at the magic kingdom in july. i didn't wear any shorts or anything under it because it was a tshirt dress and it was too hot for more layers. I didn't have a problem on most rides - just tried to get hubby to check and make sure my dress was down fully when i got up from something! lol I hadn't planned on riding the indy cars, but hubby enjoys them - so we did and i was the "driver." OMG - i was so worried i flashed my underwear at someone getting in and out of that thing! plus driving with my knee up around my chest to fit in the drivers seat...I hope I didn't!! :scared1:

I would recommend probably wearing short leggings like the pp did. It is a cute look and then you don't have to worry! :)

Not pooh sized, but I do have thighs. I wear the thinnest bicycle shorts I can find under my dresses. They not only help w/ modesty but also w/ my thighs rubbing together and chafing. Roll-on / stick deodorant helps.

HTH

I am pooh sized and I have worn thin bike shorts but mostly I go without. I'm pretty good about getting in and out of rides without putting on a show. And DH will usually help me out and "cover me" if there is that risk on certain rides.

i used to be more pooh sized and couldn't walk to the corner with out my shorts riding up between the legs. I heard of these flexible plastic ( ribs ) you can sew or iron to the inseam called NO-RIDERS. THey worked really good for my DD and i.

I love wearing dresses and skirts in the summer (just at or above Knee)
I wear either wicking bike shorts/exercise shorts or I look in the mens dept. and find wicking tight fitting boxer shorts (without the shaped built in pouch) I have found these at Target and love them (plus they are not as expensive as the exercise short found in the womens dept.) The wicking helps with moister and keeps you cooler.

If you decide to not wear something under your longer ones, make sure you get a stick of body glide or something similar. I made the mistake of walking all day in a skirt and had chub rub..lol. Ouch!

I have used Luvees undergarments in the past and they are sensational! They are lightweight (which is GREAT for the heat factor) and have softly padded thighs to prevent chafing. You should be able to find them online at their site - luvees.com.

Something else I've recently discovered is the cotton skort from Woman Within. It's very attractive, comfortable & has built in chafing protection & modesty! I like the first 2 I bought so much I've ordered one in every color for my upcoming trip. I'm so glad somebody brought this up. My daughter is bringing her very best friend with us again this year. Last year, she got a very painful nasty rash from her thighs rubbing. I even bought her longer shorts to wear but it was too late at that point and the rash was bad. Anyway, we are bringing her again this year. She has thighs that touch and rub. She's a teen and so she likes to wear shorter shorts. She also wears dresses. We all wear dresses actually ;) I am just wondering what I can do to prevent this rash from happening again this year. I felt so bad for her and by the time she told me what was going on, I had no clue what to do for her. We tried baby powder and even Desitin at that point (it was all they really had in the Pop gift shop). Any suggestions for prevention would be GREAT! I would hate to have a repeat.

Not OP but... Brilliant! Thank you ladies for posting these solutions! I rarely wear dresses and skirts because of chafing so I'm excited to try these out.

Body glide or stick deoderant work well, but I've found that plain vaseline works wonders. It feels sticky when you first put it on, but soon works its way into the skin and forms kind of a protective layer. I used it when I did the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer a few years ago and it was perfect. It even works if you just start to feel the heat of a rash starting, you can run and put some on and it'll protect the skin...and they have it in lots of gift shops and drug stores.

Good luck!

All great ideas!! Have used the deorderant before and the spray ones work well too! There is also a product called chafing relief gel. It's made by monistat, it is wonerful for both relief and prevention.

I'm not Pooh sized but this is what I always do!

I give major props to the ladies who wear dresses in the parks-- I couldn't do it!

I wore sundresses to the parks almost exclusively last July! I found them to be a lot cooler! All were knee length and I did not have any problems getting on/off rides!

Body Glide all the way....put it on thighs in morning and was good all day. Also used it for feet for anywhere shoes i was wearing touched and had no issues as all this trip.
I have read that any stick deordorant will work but the body glide seems to last a long time and I figure better safe than sorry for a few bucks. I used it at home as well for new shoes.

Athleta has great skorts and they range in size from xxs - 2x. I live in these in the summer. They have mesh bike shorts built in and most are pull on. I wear them to Disney every year and they dry quickly after water rides. I normally don't have a chafing issue, but combine sweat and miles of walking....not pleasant.

Yep, the monistat chafing gel works great. Dries to a powdery finish and is meant to be used on the thighs. You can find it at places like Walgreen's, by the "feminine products."

Bodyglide is also supposed to work well - you can buy it at most sporting goods stores (it's a product that runners use to prevent chaffing).

Skorts.
Gives the appearance of wearing a skirt and no one sees the shorts riding up! lol
