Did it fill you up? I know a lot of people think that Disney portions are big, I think some are but I don't want to have to order specific things just to get full because I don't want to spend extra money. I'm not a big eater usually at all but I get so hungry down there. DH is a big eater anyway, with the girls it is hit or miss (though we'd only have credits for one of them.)
I want to try it but the selling point for DH will be if he can be satisfied and if we do not have to buy extra snacks/food to fill us up.
I do want to do breakfast at Kona Cafe and possibly lunch off property the day we arrive. We are going to do a day and Epcot during F&W but I am treating anything I spend that day at the booths as my souvenier.

We were on the QSDP for 8 nights and we never went hungry. We only had one meal out of pocket! When we decided to go with the QSDP, especially for 8 nights, I thought we'd have to supplement a lot more than we did. Hubby is a big eater, too.

That's good to hear. I am going to try to talk him into it. Really want to try the DDP but I know I can't talk him into that right now.

We just got back from our first QSDP 8 day trip. My kids are also the same age as yours and my DH is a big eater. People might not agree with me saying this and we figured it out a little late, but they don't keep track of adult and child meal credits. You can order all adult meals even if you have a 4 yo. Once we figured this out, we started ordering adult meals for my 4 yo. My 1 yo didn't want to eat most days so my DH finished off what the kids didn't. Also, my oldest wanted to eat OUR desserts, not his cookie. :rotfl2: We definitely liked the plan and would do it again. TS meals were too much for my youngest this trip so we could do them as he allowed.

We did 16 days on the QSDP in 2009, which was the year it was first introduced and loved it. We did it again last year for 14 nights and have booked it again for this year's 15 night stay. I think that speaks for itself :rotfl:

Yes, we do eat some TS OOP, but it's not for lack of food on the QSDP. We managed to use our credits last year by using a CS meal to share for breakfast - otherwise we would have had a ton of them left over.

I am not a burger/fries person at all and have never had a problem finding a variety of food to keep things interesting.

It is also really nice to know that if you DO need to cancel a TS, you won't be stuck trying to find somewhere to eat. In addition to this, some of the restaurants we enjoyed last year were not on the dining plan so it also meant that since we were paying out of pocket for TS anyway, it became irrelevant.

I love the freedom of the QSDP. :thumbsup2 It's not for everyone, but it suits us right now just perfectly.

Oh and the refillable mug is great - we bought them before the QSDP included them :) so some extra value there.

We are a family of big eaters. We've done the QSDP several times. We've never went hungry. With the two meals and two snacks per person, it's quite a bit of food.

I really want us to try it now. The trouble will be getting DH to go for it but if I plan it out and show him that it makes sense hopefully he'll be on board for giving it a try.
Thanks everyone!

Enjoy! :goodvibes Is is possible for you to offer your DH his choice of one TS restaurant where he would like to eat and you can pay OOP just for that one? You could use that to persuade him. ;)

My Family and I had the QSDP in June of '09.

It was plenty of food. In fact, we ended up getting about 3 breakfast every morning plus our normal lunch and dinner. We ended up with maybe 10 snacks left over. It is a good deal if you have young kids. Now that my DD is going to be 10 on our next trip, I don't know if it is such a good deal.

At the time, we had a DD 8, DS 6, and DS 3. My DS3 did not want to eat, he was too excited!

We did NOT pay for any food OOP.

Happy deciding!

Keep an eye open in April the Qsdp for the value resorts and DDp for moderates probably will be offered free again. Also with all of the snack credits these can be used for just about all of the Food and Wine fest, snacks.

That is what we do...get the QSDP and pay oop for 2 ts meals. More meals and snacks (plus mug) and less cost than the regular plan. Check out www.allears.net for the menus from the resorts to parks. You can show your dh just what there is to offer.
DTD has Wolfgang Puck Express....delicious food and a great bang for your cs dining credit.

We used it on our last trip and it was a good option. We were never hungry and found quite a vast range of different food choices to enjoy. We did add one TS meal at Sci-Fi, but that was because we wanted to eat there. It certainly wasn't due to a lack of credits.

It does have it's perks:
No figuring out what park you're going to be in and making TS reservations 6 months in advance
Having the ability to change what park you want to go to on a certain day on a whim without worrying about making another reservation

No tipping, which can add up to quite a bit on a longer trip with multiple TS meals.

All that said, I'm not sure it wouldn't be cheaper just to pay OOP for what you really WANT to eat at the quick service locations. I did end up carting multiple desserts back to the room because we were just too full to eat them.

We've booked a 7 night stay at AKL this September and I added the QS plan but I'm going to go through the menus and figure out what we're most likely to eat while there, and then calculate if it would just be cheaper for us OOP.

Great thread Queen B! My hubby and I were having the same discussion. We always do the DxDP because we normally travel with family and do all the shows etc.... This year it is only my family of 4 and we do not want a ton of ressies....we want to go with the flow and eat when we are ready to eat. I am glad to hear so many good things about quick service and I am now convinced we are doing the right thing. I am excited not to be so restricted in the parks because of ressies!! Good luck talking hubby into it! :thumbsup2

Yes it has always filled us up. We use snack credits for breakfast--bagel or yogurt. And we try to get combo meals and sometimes get a drink instead of dessert.

We did QSDP in October of last year (our first trip) and we had MORE than enough food. We ended up blowing 22 snack credits in one of the candy shops on the day we left.
We will be much wiser with our snack selections next trip! LOL!

WOW 22 on candy, if you are going in October again (this is our favorite time of the year) take a walk around the worlds in EPCOT at the Food and Wine Fest kiosks that is where we use most of our snack credits and this October we are thinking of getting the QSDP because of the 2 snack credits per day instead of the 1 with the regular DDP. I think we would use 1 CS for breakfast (Captain Cooks or Riverside) 1 for lunch (Flane Tree BBQ, Columbia Harber House,Cosmic Rays,La Cantina, Lotus Blossom, Toy Story Pizza & Wolfgang Puck Express) and head to EPCOT and use the 2 snack credits for supper at the Wine Fest. (love the crab cakes at Sam Adams Kiosk)
Iit is just tooo long a wait till October.

Really, this gets me thinking of the possibilities if this is true :goodvibes

It may be true, but it is against Disney policy and some CM's WILL check your KTTW card, which states the number of adults and children on your reservation. I am sure some slip through the system, but you are unlikely to get through your trip without it coming up and then you will be stuck at the check out with an extra adult meal you have to pay OOP for as you can't use a credit for part payment towards the cost of an adult entree (plus the drink and dessert).

I don't want to start a discussion on the ethics of this, but you should be forewarned. I decided I really wanted adult meals for my DD this year so I just bought her an adult park ticket and QSDP.

Where did you spend all your credits? I would love to hear what you got with them. Two nights before we left I went to see how many SCs we had left as we had been using dessert for snacks so hadn't used the snack credits much aside from the odd water and at the F&W festival. The CM told me that we (DD and I) had 43 to spend .... PANIC!!!

Yes, it is true, and you can use child credits to get adult meals. There are quite a few CS that doesn't offer kids meals as well, so your only choice is to get them an adult meal. One of our favorites, is the Refreshment Port next to Canada in Epcot. Really big fried shrimp baskets with a HUGE sundae for dessert. We Love the QS plan, this plan is Perfect for our family!:cool1:
