After doing back to back cruises, what were your opinions of it? Would you do it again? Did you feel it was a waste to go to the same place twice? It it comprable to a 7 day?

I really had my heart set on a 7 day for our 10th anniversary but since all rumors are sending the ship out west for summer of 2005, and upping the price Im sure, I dont think it will be in our budget. :( Im thinking back to back may be the answer and I just booked the 4 day. While considering doing a 3 day too, Im not sure if Ill feel like Im missing out on stuff, like the formal night(I was dying to see my kids in tuxes), the different theme meals, Palo brunch, character breakfast, the different ports, etc...

So, Id love to hear any opinions on back to backs?

CamColt-

I'm sorry that I don't have experience to speak to your question about back-to-backing. However, you would have the unique opportunity to visit Castaway Cay 2 times in your 7 day trip and I would LOVE that feature. It's such a beautiful island to spend the day on.

Also, not sure if this is your first cruise? But there is plenty to do in Nassau for you to enjoy on each trip. You could spend one day exploring Atlantis and another doing historic sites, or dolphin swims, or water sports, or you could really just enjoy some more time on the ship with spa treatments.

You could still make dinner reservations at Palo's (more than once if you wanted) and at least you and your hubby could get all dressed up.

And nothing is set in stone yet as rumors are just rumors. Perhaps the Wonder will alternate a 3/4 itenerary with a 7 day one? Perhaps the Magic will relocate to the west coast and not be as expensive as you think. By at least booking the 4 day now you are keeping your options open.

I did back to back cruises on the Wonder.

Cruises are an entirely different vacation for me. While I love WDW, I always overdo it. On the cruise, I relax and return refreshed and rejuvenated.

I'm not a huge fan of Nassau. I only did a little shopping on the two stops there. I spent most of those days on the ship. I absolutely love Castaway Cay and was thrilled to visit it twice.

I got to see Golden Mickeys 3 times. (The regular evening performance and a matinee.) I got to enjoy my favorite meals twice.

You may be able to do Palo brunch on the 4 day. I know that in January it was being offered during the day at sea. I haven't heard if they kept it or not.

There's so many opportunities to see characters, missing the breakfast is not a biggie.

I was surprised to see how dressed up a lot of families were on the Wonder during those cruises. If you wanted to go formal, I'll bet that you won't be the only ones.

Two Wonders are different from one Magic, but I didn't find myself wishing I was on the latter. Any Disney cruise is better than no cruise at all. I was just happy to be there.

My wife and I did back-to-back cruises on the Magic. All I can say is that it was the absolute best vacation we have ever had in 32 years! I would do it again in a heartbeat ... maybe even three!

Thanks for the replies! :D

We have done 2 other Wonder(3 day) cruises and also been to Nassau another time on the BRB. We visited Nassau on our first trip there and werent very impressd. On our second we stayed on the ship and on our 3rd we only got off to call home. I think that may be one of the reasons Im not overly thrilled with the idea of going there twice. The biggest pros I see are 2 CC days and being able to do Palo without missing a dinig rotation. And of course being able to see the shows and yet still do other things that might overlap the show times since we could skip them each once.

I guess Ill just have to think this one over until the "announcement" is made. ;) But for now, at least I know Im going on a 4 day cruise.

Hi CamColt,

We just got off the 4 day Wonder on Thursday and it was great. I'm not sure the 3 day after this would be anything but a let down. Most people got dressed up on their night at Tritons and the photographers were out doing formal portraits.

The Palo's Brunch is available, and on Nassau we did the Blue Lagoon Beach Day and actually relaxed more and had warmer water than on CC. What about spending the other 3 days at one of the upscale Disney Resorts or the new Ron Jon?

Thanks Wildcat. The Palo brunch is a definite plus.

That is one of my options, and the one Im considering the most right now...going to WDW for a few days after. We will have gone to the parks 3 times this year and we will probably be going 2 or 3 more times the following year(APs), so I was considering staying in WDW and doing all the non park stuff for a few days, and maybe even(gasp!) checking out Universal for a day. So many choices! ;)

I know that Barb (inkkognito) and Tony have done back to back to back cruise(s) on the Wonder. You might try sending them a PM.

Congratulations on your upcomming 10 year anniversary. I am sorry that you are not able to book your 7 day like you had planned. I planned way ahead for my 10th and would have been disapointed had it not worked out.

I admire you for making the best of it and booking the 4 day. May something wonderful fall into your lap for the other 3 days (resort or cruise). Happy planning. :goodvibes

We may also have to change our plans. We really want a 7 day Western at the end of May 2005. One thing we are considering is the land and sea package. We would do the 3 day land and 4 day sea to get the most sailing time. It seems like a pretty good deal when you figure the park hopper passes into the price. Whatever you decide I hope you have a wonderful 10th anniversary.

We have our back to back Wonder cruise scheduled for next May. We considered doing the Magic instead but for us there was a bigger desire to do 7 days on the Wonder. First, we never want to get off the ship, especially in Nassau. Usually the ship (and pools) are nearly empty and the kids enjoy taking advantage of it. Second, it's a sentimental thing for us because our first Disney cruise was on the Wonder. Thirdly, it saves us money. The price of a back to back is about the same, maybe even slightly higher but since we won't get off the ship and do any excursions like we would on the other itineraries it ends up saving us money. Next, if we don't like our tablemates we know we'll get to switch halfway through! ;) Lastly, Castaway Cay twice...need I say more!?!

Good luck deciding...it's definitely a personal choice. :sunny:
