We are going tommorrow for 3 nights. I have read all the reports, and am cautious, but the kids insist on going (2 that are 7 one that is 9). What area whould I request for room location? We are planning on spending most of our time at the hotel this trip, so was thinking it would be nice to be by the pool, perhaps ground floor? Thought it would be easier for the kids coming and going to the pool. How noisy is it? Have already accepted the fact that this trip is for the kids and not Mom and Dad. October we're returning to Boardwalk Concierge. We have stayed at most all Disney properties multiple times and kids wanted something different.

What have I done !!! LOL

Thanks in advance.

I too did this due to the endless begging of my children. All I can say is bring the aspirin:laughing:

I can only speak from my experience, but it's nonstop kids screaming. Don't get me wrong, your kids will LOVE this place, but if you're like me you will be missing the Boardwalk by the first nite. I've never stayed at a hotel that was more "kid" oriented and zero "adult" oriented in my life. At least w/Disney you get both, a happy medium.

The pool is awesome w/the waterslides, slime, etc. they will enjoy it. My kids still beg me to go back again, but honestly I don't think I could do it. Once was enough for me.

Im planning on going for my first time ever around thanksgiving for a nite or two. From what I've read - you either love it or hate it...I havent confirmed yet, but my kids are such spongebob fans. If Universal had them in the parks more we would probably can the idea, but the rooms look interesting and fun, and the games look neat.

She says naively and shrugs....:confused3

Can it be that bad? :headache:

1 or 2 nites would be perfect. If your kids love Spongebob & the rest of the nick characters, they will really enjoy the Nick Hotel. There is no doubt that kids love this hotel, it's just alittle hard to take as an adult if you like to have any alone or adult time. To give you an example, they have a bar for adults to drink. However, the bar is openly located in the middle of the food court across from the arcarde. There's just no getting away from all the kid activity.:rotfl:

We were there after Memorial Day last year. The pool was so crowded that I never saw my kids. I just found a lounge chair and said I will be here. There are plenty of lifeguards, at least. For all they knew, I could have been at the outlet mall.

The shows were very crowded when we were there, too. We barely got tickets. So ask about them early.

Don't get too excited about the rooms. They offer privacy, but not that big at all.

Your kids will love the hotel and think you are the COOLEST parents ever for taking them!!

We have gone 2x for a week each time and loved it. Your best pool is on the lagoon side. That is where the water tower is that you see in all the ads. I just think the pool is bigger and better on this side. The first time we were in bldg 13 on floor 4 and could see all the fireworks from Disney and Seaworld at night which we liked. The second time we requested the same area and got bldg 14 floor 5 and still saw all the fireworks. It was a little of the magic without the hassle of leaving the parks afterwards. We faced the Marriot World Center but we didn't care since we weren't in the room much. We also did not eat on property very much the second time since they had changed so many things and the food wasn't that good. Now with the KEF program being 5 & under it is not worth it when you add the increase in the room price AND the resort fee. It has just gotten too expensive for a holiday inn type place. Unless of course, you can get a great deal. You will have a good time. I have not experienced some of the issues that some of the other people on this board have. The kids will LOVE IT!! Enjoy.

Actually Universal does have Spongebob. He's right outside the Jimmy Neutron ride in the gift shop. That's where my DDs had their pic taken with him, not at Nick Hotel. At Nick we never saw him in the 3 days we were there, but that's because we didn't pay extra for the Bikini Blast or the character breakfast. We saw Blue and the Fairly Odd Parents, that was it.

UGH!

We just got back and it was pretty bad. Too long of list to go into now, but will not do it again! Well update after I dis-infect and calm down!

Our family of 6 stayed there on June 19 & 20 '07. We loved it! I paid $129 per night. We didn't see any shows, the food court was pricey and the gift shop was very small. We were there for the pool and would do it again.

So did you specifically ask for a room on a high floor of a specific building or the lagoon area (curious about the wording to use when I request)? Thanks!:)
I just booked 2 nights in Jan. before we go to the HRH. I was thinking 1 day we'd go to Seaworld, so really they'll only have the afternoon we come in, then the morning we leave...hmmm...should I book one more night so they have a full Nick resort day?:confused3 (or will I need to buy too many bottles of wine if I stay too long?:rotfl: )

We went in April of this year and really liked it. Ask for a room NOT on the first floor and NOT by the elevators.

We stayed three nights which was perfect. Kids loved it, water slides/pools were great, staff at the slides/pools were great, entertainment was great, food wasn't bad, room was nice -- much bigger than what we'd get for the same price at Disney. It was nice to have a room separate from the kids! And, when we went kids under 12 ate free, now it's only under 5 though and now they charge a $20/night resort fee we didn't have to pay either. But we'd go back.

Please update us on your experience?? :confused3

Guess it couldnt have been THAT bad....still waiting...:coffee:

Am I crazy for even considering staying here in the summer of 2008 for six nights?? We will then move to Horizons for 4 nights and RPR/Universal for 2-3 for FOTL access. I think that many of the people who report bad stays likely didn't feel that they got great value for what they were paying. It seems like it can be VERY expensive during peak times -- I remember reading that someone paid $600 for one night -- never! It will be free for me (even no $20 resort fee) as I have enough priority club points to cover the stay -- my expectations will be lower -- maybe???

^Make sure you are prepared for hundreds of screaming kids all over the place. Six days seems like a long time, but it will be all too short for the kids i bet!

My Girl Scout troop is TRYING to talk me into taking them next summer. I am really hesitant to drive 750 miles to do this with all the bad reports I've read. I can't wait to hear about the disinfecting... Cindy

Maybe 6 nights is too much, it would depend on the ages of your children. If they are able to swim without supervision then 6 nights won't be as draining. Plus if you are a family of 4 with kids over the age of 8 (if I remember correctly) you can get picked for the evening shows. AND with older kids there are less trips back the room for naps or clothing changes, etc. which is a pain because the place is huge.

When we went for 3 nights it was one night too many. My kids were 6 and 7 and not good swimmers so either me or DH had to be in the water with them. That was tough after I saw a kid swim by with a huge snot bubble coming out of his nose! The overall noise and gross factor got to me. I envied the moms I saw laying in loungers reading a book. The one time I ran back to the room to get some alone time, the family showed up 15 mins later because someone puked in the pool. :scared:

I guess i am kust lucky..i have never stayed 6 nights but have done 3 on 2 different occasions...It was great...The kids had a blast and love the food,pool,dive-in movies all the sctivities and games....

we enjoyed it also...the bar was nice...the food was good...i mean its mostly fast food except for the breakfast but it all was good.
I never saw something dirty or had rude staff or anything...
we would go back in a minute...i guess it is all n what you expect...
its a Hotel with a water park...so sure there will be kids and kids play.yell,scream,etc...but thats what we expected....
quiet = no fun...

We think the place is great...
