Hi,
for those that have vacationed at WDW during mid-August..
how is the weather during early evenings... If I were to take my kids
out for the evening during this times... should they all bring
a light jacket, is it needed ?? because the less stuff we lug around the better...
if its not needed , I would just leave it back at the resort !!
thanks !

We went last Aug and no - you will not need a jacket, even at night. It is still very warm at night and we never took a jacket and we were fine. HTH:)

We have never needed a jacket in summer month visits to the mouse-its still hot at night.

I'm up in Georgia, and even up here you would never need a jacket at any time of day in August.

I'm a southerner too and we won't need our light jackets again until at least October.

Florida still has very hot and humid evenings in August.

The first time we went in August, I packed pants and light jackets for everyone - they never left the hotel room! The next time, I packed much lighter. Even when the sun goes down, it's still 90 degrees in August!

wow , thanks for the heads up !
I did not realize ... I knew it was going to be HOT during the day..
but during the evenings hours, I am used to taking a light jacket everywhere I go... guess not for WDW !!!!!!!!! No instead of lugging jackets... we will just lug all our souvenirs we buy !

thanks again.

My MIL was upset with me (for not protecting my kids of course) because I told her last year we were not bringing jackets or sweatshirts for our July trip. After all, in Chicago (or Canada or lots of other places) we always have jackets handy "just in case."

On our first July trip several years ago, I brought the jackets and long pants. I learned my lesson. They took up room and never left the suitcase.

Shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, and bathing suits are all you need in an Orlando summer!

A word of warning though, if you have anyone who gets cold easily in air conditioning, they might need a light sweater. My daughter, who is petite, wore a lot of tank tops but we put a sweater into the backpack for eating at restuarants because it was so much cooler.

Make sure you invest in light shirts and shorts, especially sleevless. I put on one tshirt last year and thought I would sweat to death.

Just wanted to add- If you go to AK you definetly don't need clothes! You will either melt or combust upon arrival!:rotfl:

We were there last Aug. 3-12, and even though I am always FREEZING I only needed a jacket when we were at dinner. There is one pic where I am wearing a jacket at MK at night, but we had just come from dinner at the Poly and I hadn't taken it off yet. But I remember I was feeling way too warm in the photo!:rotfl2: DS & I both have very lightweight windbreakers that will fit in a sandwich bag - I fold them up tiny and keep them in the backpack.

Last August I could've used pants or a jacket - to sit on at 9pm at night while watching Spectromagic because the ground was still so hot my tush was burning!!!

Definitely don't need pants/jacket. Save the room for a few extra shorts/shirts and an umbrella. You'll want extra outfits to change into after sweating all morning in 1 outfit. And the umbrella keeps the rain and sun off of you. (Oh, the rain last August was soooo nice! It was so nice to have a break from the sun!)

I agree with everyone else. We always go in August and have NEVER needed a jacket. But, as someone wo posted earlier stated, if you or anone in your party gets chilly easily it's a good idea to have something for air conditioned attractions and restaurants. I would recommend a long sleeve t-shirt for this.
Have a great trip. We'll be there August 14th -24th....:goodvibes

My kids have LL Bean raincoats and rainpants that look like a windsuit. We will be bringing them as we know that we will need rain protection. Because they look like wind suits they can be used as such if the unlikely need should arise. I'm all about multipurpose items :thumbsup2

Honestly, I don't even think you need them. They will be hot and sticky and uncomfortable in them. We were there last year during a tropical storm and just wore those cheap pullover ponchos. It was much better just being wet than being dry and sticky.

My kids HATE ponchos. They are much better off in the jackets. They probably won't wear the pants, but you never know. We were there a few years ago with a hurricane off shore and we had torrential rains for the whole 2 weeks. We were at the campground and we would find notes from the office warning that the campground might need to be evacuated:headache: At least we'll be ready. They are predicting another high hurricane year so you never know. We'll be enjoying a 22 day vacation :cool1: This is our 9th trip with kids so we've experimented and know what works best for us
