YOU THROUGH THE PAIN!!!???? I really want to add on, dh thinks that 300 is enough and it JUST HURTS SO BAD!!! :rotfl:

There is nothing you can do.....besides add on. Even when you do add on, the addonitis is still there. We just added on 160 a week ago and still have a case of addonitis. I hope you can find something that helps. If you do find something let me know. :)

maybe the knowledge that many of us have half of what you have - does that help??? ;)

We have 170 and probably will add on at some point but it isn't somethign I feel we HAVE to do.

I dont know what to say? I just added on 160 about 3 months ago and just got a new solicitation in the mail w/ a good deal! It has my attention but I need to get over it!!

If you figure out what works will you PM me??

I agree that it never goes away. Unfortunately, the reality of finances makes it unwise to add on at times, but it still hurts. So, in that case, which usually occurs to a DVCer after an add on or two, plan one a few years down the road. It gives you hope and something to look forward to. (That is what I am doing) But the addonitis itch itself never goes away!

The airline industry has cured my addonitis.....this last trip did it for me. I just turned down a Beach Club add-on that came thru during my vacation. After dealing with this last airline fiasco, I am looking to visit drivable resorts. So HHI.....here I come fall '09!:goodvibes

BEACH CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved it there in July. I would love to add on there, and then keep adding on until I had at least 200 pts. to do 5 weekdays there in the summer in a 2br.

You know I was sorta thinking that today...."start my add on fund" LOL I wouldn't mind adding on in small 25 pt. chunks either.... it seems doable and wouldn't take as long. I just hate it when these incentives come in the mail and IT TEMTS ME EVERY TIME.

YOU THROUGH THE PAIN!!!????

In December and January when I receive my annual membership bill, I have the least amount of desire to add on.:lmao:

We have membership fees set up to be paid each month, so when I get itchy about adding on, I pay them off early. That generally takes care of it for a while. :)

. :)

1 my annual dues bill
2 another vacation waitlist
3 I look again at my annual dues bill
4 Can't get any ADRs I want anymore
5 Envisioning paying my annual dues bill as I am filling my oil tank at the same time!

I am actually over addonitis. I had it pretty bad for the first 5 or 6 years of ownership but now am happy with the 340 points we have.

It always came down to the difference between a "want" and a "need" for me. I found that addonitis got worse when I was points-poor (due to borrowing, etc.). I just had to get used to the pattern of how we use our points and the addonitis cured itself. Now, with our kids getting older, we really don't need anymore points so I am content.

The resale value of all DVC contracts is dropping dramatically and some people are giving this reason when they sell, "The maintenance fees are just too high and I really want to get rid of them!"

Remember, some day you may actually need to sell. :wizard:

We've owned for almost 9 years and never had addonitis until about a year ago....that's when our first grandchild was born. We realize that in a few years we will want to start taking the grandkids w/ us and will need more space. Now I have addonitis BIG time. We're saving to buy 200 points (we only have our original 150) and then we'll take the plunge.

Ditto - I would also include my dislike of the new booking changes, incredible crowds in the last few years and concerns that the trend in changes of DVC membership. We were in proccess of adding on until the new booking policy was announced. We stopped the deal.

I think about how much MFs as well as park tickets and transportation will be 40 years from now. I also rationalize that we now go to Disney twice as much as we used to go, and wonder why we would need an add-on.

The hard part is keeping me out of a 1 bdrm on a regular basis. (That would really make me want to add on.)

Finally, Dh and I have made a firm commitment to pay MFs once a year. We call it our little "booster shot" for addonitis.

I also just realized that our BWV will expire 3 months before our 50th wedding anniversary. :sad1: That will never do. Where will we have the party? We must buy into BLT. That's all there is to it.

Figure out how many semesters of college tuition you can pay for with all the rising member fees you will have to pay. Or how many sets of braces those fees and point costs will cover. Or how you could pay for the car insurance for that just turned 16 yr old driver with those increased MF.

We got to the point where we were paying nearly $2500 a year in member fees and decided we could use that alone to go on a very nice trip. We have sold off 175 of our 500 points and looking to sell off another 50.

If you don't pay the bills, you really don't realize how much you actually send to Disney every year (how clever of them to allow you to deduct those fees monthly automatically). Add on the cost of the passes, the dining plan (or just eating), the travel there and back. Then you realize that one nice trip a year is just fine.

Well..... I do pay the bills, we do have a daughter who is driving, is 17 and going off to college in a year. We also have paid for two kids to have braces. matter of fact another will be headed that way. Oh and another one entering high school. IT STILL DOESN'T MAKE ME WANT TO NOT ADD ON.....:rotfl:

We have 300 points....I would love to add at least 50 more....just 50.....JUST 50......JUST 50.......JUST 50.......JUST 50........JUST 50.......:cloud9:

We have added on 5 times in the past 13 months :scared1:

We just did again this Sat (small 25 point at BCV) and I am still not cured:eek:

Just booked a March vac at BCV (1 bedroom)......need more points now :rotfl2:
